I wish they did a show like this for Moto GP. It's hard enough getting coverage without paying out the ass as it is let alone some behind the scenes action.

My favorite car this year will be the one Alonso is in....
Everything else is up for grabs, except fish lips, don't care for him. Am hoping Leclerc is really successful this year.

I actively root against Fish Lips just because I feel a lot of people want him to win. I do like Leclerc tho hope he has a good year same with all of the ‘19 rookies. Can’t say anything bad about them they all did quite well last year considering

Sorry for the off topic but does anyone watch/follow WRC?

I guess it started today, in Monte Carlo, and apparently Toyota has a team in it... Or they sponsor one at least.

I don’t but I think TOYOTA has that new Yaris in it. The real cool one that USA won’t get :frusty:

Yup that it's it. Here's the homologation car, was going to buy one but we aren't getting it.....

Only offered in manual, has AWD that can be split 50/50, 30/70 power distribution depending on mode

Nothing too exciting... maybe a little rust
So Toyota does still make fun cars... we just don't get them. :pout:

I really like the looks of the Hyundai i30 N edition too, which we don't get. We get the Veloster N instead :puke:

That's it! I think the issue is that since a lot of the other countries get all the cool cars (twin turbo wagons, hot hatches, etc.) and we don't is because when we actually do get a cool car it doesn't sell here. So they just stop doing it for all of them. Americans I guess don't want fun cars anymore except for the minority which is why cool cars don't do well here

A bit. Its freaking awesome and Monte Carlo is a good one. Problem is it isn't NASCARy enough for the average Bud Light couch potato 'Merican so its PPV coverage only. I've been considering paying but its just not high enough on the list yet.

Its more EPA and NHTSA putting a crimp on that. And a special FU shout out to California and Californians who stuff their bullshit into the equation too.

I'm surprised some automakers just don't make cars special to sell in California. Just skip it with certain models or engines.

Its a huge and growing market share. Just in CA its something like 30% of all non-luxury cars. Then there are something like 15 other states that require the CARB certifications. Which includes a lot of the New England area so im sure the percentage is even higher.

It does suck we dont get all the "cool" models of cars.

EPA yes, NHTSA not so much. Euro safety regs tend to be more onerous than US regs. Witness all the pedestrian inanity over the past 10 years that has ruined the design of any small sports car.

It would be nice if EPA and Euro emissions agencies would get on the same page. They're not really all that far apart.

I think think the cost of complying with ridiculously detailed and complex DOT safety standards has more to do with it than you think. This is the quick reference guide to DOT's great big book of federal motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS).
    https://www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.dot.gov/files/fmvss-quickrefguide-hs811439.pdf

If the manufacturer can't certify that the vehicle is 100% compliant they can't ship it here and sell it. We can't even buy it overseas and import it for personal use on the highway unless its 25 years old.
