I have a 2017 Tacoma TRD off-road. I plan on putting a 2 inch level on the front. I was wondering what size offset I should go with my rims? I’m looking at 17inch fuel rebels and 285/70 ridge grapplers

I went with a zero offset and the standard tire size, they stick out about an inch and a half more then the stock rims. The tires line up with the fenders instead of being sunk in with the original wheels. I really like the look.

17X9 -12 here, and it's already beating up the truck off road.
I wouldn't want any more, and I'd risk tickets on trips into certain parts of Florida if I had more.

I know you mentioned 17" wheels, but here is a straight (ish?) on shot of my 16x8 -25et with 285/75/16. In person it looks more aggressive. I think it's perfect though!

A 0 offset 8" wide will stick out past the fender with a 285/70 by about an inch. It looks beefy and nice. The -12mm 9" wide will stick out past the fender about 2". They both look good.

I think with 8" 0 offset that you will have to do some very minor fender trimming. With 285s, this should just clear your cab mount.

I imagine that a 9" -12mm probably requires more trimming and dang near a cab mount chop.

Those estimates are likely representative to your vehicle’s own set up.

0 offset wheels are usually almost flush with fender (1/4” tucked in). -12 are usually just a tad past the fender (1/4” past).

I believe your spindles might be the root cause for the diff.

Offset will vary a bit depending on wheel width. With that said, offset on wheels is a personal preference. What kind of look do you want, OP? What size tire will you be running?

Looks good man! My wheels are 16x9 -12 so yours look to be the closest to my setup and I'm looking at doing nitto terra grappler 285-75-16. What all did you have to do to get these to fit. Mind i don't have to do flare or mudflap trim.

When wheels stick out too far it makes the owner look they do no know how to measure backspacing.
