If it's just surface rust it's not gonna become a hole overnight, especially in a dry climate.

I would knock the loose rust off with a wire brush or wire wheel, scuff the paint, and paint over it all with some Rust-Oleum

I will probably make some of y'all (@BartMaster1234 :luvya:) cry with said advice

Didn't say I was gonna get one just wondering if anyone's heard of them

Engo and Superwinch are reputable brands for less than Warn, though I think Warn or Smitty bought out Superwinch last year

Hard to see but thats a gasket on the pan, just happens to be black as well.

When I took it apart, I remember posting about it and asking if the gasket maker you squeeze out is from the factory and many confirmed it was.

Around Christmas time this was floating about the Deals thread where it supposedly was on sale for 382 @ 4WP. Everytime I tried checking out it would change the cart price to full price. Finally gave up. I would've given it a try at that price. Other than that, if I were to go with a winch, it would be WARN.

I know you didn't ask for me specifically, but a couple things came to mind(that you might've already done), until the pros chime in:D double check the drain plug; and if it is in fact the gasket/pan leaking maybe snugging up or double checking the transmission pan bolts.

Yep. The orange FIPG has held up great. I figured anything that was that hard to get off would last. Black is for lower torque rubber to metal applications.

Gotcha; probably the same stuff that originally came on the truck I take it?

Lol I'll definitely check on Wednesday since it's my next day off.

It's not actively leaking; seems it only leaks the way it did when I went up the grapevine in LA. Steep climbs and constant downshifting of the transmission.

I took some steep climbs today since everything was dry ...for the most part.

So AT or something that sees ATF should be the orange stuff huh? Dunno if I knew that. Gotta make a mental note.
Anything else off hand that needs the orange specifically? I can Google too, but since you're here tho and someone with first hand experience is good:D

You know, I value everyone's opinion until this comment

    :luvya:

I'm going to go with Dan's suggestion and use the Toyota gasket maker since I'm already having an issue with the 2 month old gasket
