Pressure wash the mud and dirt that is; god forbid I get rust from the moisture retained by the mud under my truck

As for the gasket, I was told not to use the cork type gasket which is what i stayed away from.

I'll wait for Dan to post that part number and I'll go with that stuff instead.

For something sheet metal like oil pans silicone is the way to go, sheet metal bends silicond doesnt need a smooth service like gaskets do

Not trying to argue this at all just another one of those situations where we I have to ask, Toyota, WTF? The physical gasket I have is listed as compatible with the A340E/Tacoma (and confirmed via VIN). I know the FIPG is the method that is listed in FSM and the techs use (hats off to Dan for confirming Orange is better than black in this case). Just wonder why Toyota would list it as a part for the truck if its going to be crap and leak. Oh well, just thinking out loud. No big deal. Carry on...

I was thinking the same exact thing which is why I initially questioned it when I replaced it 2 months ago.

Here I am having to do it all over again. I'll try to collect as much fluid to reuse it since it's all new

    Yeah I used a gasket.

So I'll use the orange fipg this time around.

Just got done washing the truck; errand time now.

And yeah I got the message  you're good. I'll do it solo, just have a beer waiting for me when I make it out to your place for anything and we'll call it even.

well that sucks. guess that gasket is going in the pile for the 'NorCal Pay It Forward thread'. Lots of items hitting that list. Really need to take the time to take some pictures and put together a post. I want to know about the difference between the black and orange FIPG. What is the black used for? Is the orange only good for trans?

@Area51Runner what drill bit size did you use for your frame when you mounted your crush cans?

Just bought a plate bumper for the Taco. The little store that sells them and makes them is the real deal. A nice store front, great selection of parts for jeeps, Toyotas, and Fords. This is the kinda place that should own the 4wd vehicle parts market. The owner was going to have his mother stay late just to sell me the bumper when he heard I was coming from out of town.

The 4x4 Store in Clarkston, WA. They said they ship the bumpers and winch packages too.

Isn't that the truth haha. It's so weird that the only convenient way to get to this town in WA from elsewhere in WA is to go through Idaho.

Minus hoops, he had all the hoops separate and said the kit is another $50 but I didn't really want any this time around.
