Yeah, humans aren't very rigid and a three jaw Chuck is pretty much always a no-no with taps. Can't get a grip worth a damn on carbide with one and three jaw Chucks have tons of runout. Just ends up rounding Chuck jaws and breaking taps. Fine to chase em like that though.

There have been days where Ill thread 100 1/2-13 holes with a hand drill. Way too time consuming to sit there with a t handle and a tap.

just make sure you pick up a good quality bit(s). No shortcuts. Last thing you want is some cheap bit that craps out before you can finish the opposite side. 10.5mm and 13mm If you end up not using the 10.5, return it. I know you'll need the 13 for sure.

I like dewalt bits as far as homeowner stuff goes. The occasional trip through some steel doesnt really affect them.

It is a blur. After I thought about it, I remembered drilling mine not quite straight.

What's not a blur is how good your truck looked pulling out of my driveway.

Eh guess thats the difference between a machinist and a maintenance guy. One has a "do it the right way" attitude, the other has a "dont care how its done, just that its done before 3:30" attitude.

Me and the other maintenance guys have butted heads with our machinist more than a few times over the proper way to accomplish a task.

Sometimes you gotta draw the line. I haven't seen any of the new Ninja Turtles movies since the 90's live action ones.
