Easiest access hikes
AZT has a lot of great options really boils down to what time of year and what kind of terrain you want.
Winter or Early spring the stretch from Oracle to The Superstitions will give you great low desert hiking without much steep climbing. Spring for wildflowers about 100 miles one way reasonable drive times back to start point good trail angels on both start/finish

Late spring lots of climbing and rough terrain passages 21 to 26 sunflower to Pine about 70-80 miles
Peak out around 7k so snow ice possible October through April

Later spring late April through June mogollon rim to Flagstaff 100-140 miles depending on which side of Flagstaff you want to end on. Cool mostly flat hiking through the ponderosa pines. I'll be doing this stretch late April over 5-6 days 110 miles.


More remote options that will require more planning.

Sections 1-6 us border to Suarahita rd about 120 miles or 80 if you end at Kentucky camp
Peak out at 9k feet and back down to around 3-4k depending on where you end. Really diverse passages terrain wise. Open up with a 4k climb in 4 miles after that only a couple tough climbs.

North Rim to Utah Colorado Plateau summer to early fall or Flagstaff to south rim kaibab plateau both flattish across some high desert forest.

Good weather late winter early spring colossal cave to Oracle about 100 miles takes you through saguaro national park up over two peaks pushing 9-10k feet will travel through multiple terrains a couple times with 2 climbs and descents of 5k feet wide range of temps likely.

Other options highline trail along the mogollon rim 60 miles challenging terrain in shores 55ish miles
