No hunting today, but I made a mount for the detector in the shell.

I might just copy your set-up. Currently my detector is just bouncing around in the back of the truck.

Thanks. Yesterday when I went out put the MD on the rear seat so that it didn't slide all over the place in the bed and ended up with dirt and sand on the seat. So the gears in my head started turning.

That mount is a great idea. I guess I wouldn’t worry so much about it where you are, but I thought about doing the same thing and worry about it being exposed to low life's. I’ll probably keep it underneath my platform out of sight instead. Too bad also, because I would have loved to mount mine like you did. Nice job!

I broke in my new MD this past Sunday also for the first time and got lots of practice detecting lead as well!

As one wise one once PM’ed me; “It's important that you get out and learn the machine. If you are finding small lead, you will find gold.”. -Hobbs ;)

The MD won't be in the shell permanently, just when I head out to hunt. I usually forget to lock the shell, but fortunately Prescott is pretty safe.

Gold would be good! I think I've heard or read that gold has been found in every county in AZ.

One of many reasons why I coin collect, but also... well, I just like collecting coins. I've gotta find my "books". My wheat book is about 2/3 filled? Been a while since I looked through it. Either way, I KNOW I'm missing the more key date expensive wheaties. I started Memorial Cents and Statehood Quarters as well, maybe about 10yrs ago now?

Anyways, I hope you learn and enjoy the vid...

I have seen the top 10 most valuable cents vid, good stuff!
I am right there with you on the coin collecting! I am sort of working on a Type Set, with Morgans being the only series (so far) I am going after.

Managed to sneak away last week for a little outing. Scraped up a nice chinese coin and by far the best condition opium tin I have found

That's cool!!! You have some really nice Chinese coins! I found a web site for dating Chinese coins over on TreasureNet. Interesting stuff.
And that tin is way cool! I haven't seen one of those. Did you detect it up?
I found my first Chinese coin this past Sunday. it is really rough, but a keeper none the less.
And I detected a new spot this afternoon after work and dug up a 1903 Indian Head Penny. Prolly gonna go have another look tomorrow.

Found my first emperor coin three years ago almost to the date. Lost it in that damn Camp Fire.

Yep dug the tin, I have found several but they are usually smushed pretty good as they are suuuppper thin brass. They ring up like a soda can so kind of hard to miss when they are complete, but usually just find pieces, or the lid portion... to find a whole one is pretty rare, to find a complete one that isn't smushed is really hard to do.

The chinese coins are definitely fragile, but really fun to find, congrats on your first! If you went somewhere after work and managed an indian head Id definitely be going back there!
