Been researching for months now. I just can’t figure out what is right for me. I have read all the official threads on many setups.

I had everything settled on a falcon shocks lift kit, but I read some bad things about them on this site recently.

I don’t know of the 5100s are right for me or the 6112s, or fox 2.5s, or some other kit.

Overall, prefer a stiffer sportier ride on road, and I want a smooth ride on wash boards/forest roads. I usually go off road on long treks, and I get really nervous about shock fade or blowing out my shocks completely. It hasn’t happened to me, but that’s mainly because I won’t push it as hard as I want to.

I don’t want anymore body roll or nose dives etc.

I don’t plan to go higher than 31s, so a lift of 1-2 inches is all I want.

basically, I don’t want a super soft boat feeling on-road, but I want a reduced risk of shock fade and I don’t want to be rattled to death on wash boards (50-60 mph).

I really didn’t want to make a thread like this but I just can’t figure out what is right for me.

    any advice?

You need digressive shocks. That’s your starting point. Now build from there.

Edit ^ you beat me to it! ToyTech too.

You can choose digressive or progressive. You can’t really have the best of both worlds unless you spend big money on zone bypass type shocks.

digressive: firm and sporty, rough over small bumps, softer the faster and bumpier it gets.

progressive: cushy floaty Cadillac ride, but you get roll and dive. Soaks up the small stuff and you feel the big hits more

For your use I'd stay away from 5100s. I have them and they work, but I'm always thinking about how nice King, Icon or ADS suspension would be. The 5100s are fine if you take it easy off road, but they aren't really a heavy duty shock, and will fade at some point. Love them on the road though, they're awesome for that. No more body roll or nose diving for me.

Thanks for all the replies. And thanks for the recommendation of headstrong.

I took a look at the headstrong site. I think I am going to buy once/cry once and buy the 6112/5160 with a Dakar heavy duty leaf Pack (might get a RTT in future).

Definitely consider what final weight you'll end up adding before buying leaf springs, as you don't want it to ride really rough until then.

    I would call @AccuTune Offroad

They will custom build and tune the shocks for how you drive!

    Great idea! :)

We can set you up with a nice set of Fox or King shocks and will valve them to your needs. If you plan to drive on various terrain often, you may really like the features of a DSC adjuster on the Fox Shocks. We have plenty of Tech Articles that may help answer some questions. appreciate the offer. However, I am in the $1.5k to $2.5k market. You’re describing a setup that is out of my budget. Thanks for the info though.

I went 6112/5160 w/Icon RTX rear leafs. Its has some nose dive but overall pretty firm on road. Off road with a load of camping gear its rides nice. I'm ~$1700 all in though I did the install myself. I am running 235/85 r16 Falken Wildpeak MT01 off road and stock 265/70 r16 Goodyears on road.

thanks. You’re whole setup is nearly my exact plan. Including the second pair of wheels for off-road. I was going to use 265/75/16 off road rather than skinnies though. Is there an advantage to skinnies off road?
