Lol. That's the only purchase that's "approved" by my wife. She's wasn't too impressed with leaking zip-lock bags in the cooler....*
Kinda too bad Dometic is getting rid of 65 qt fridge. After careful deliberation, we figured that 55 qt might be too small for us, so... It might be either Dometic 75 or ARB 63 (or 82, but that is huge!).

*seems that vacuum sealing might be an answer for that though. So, food saver thing might be a good option anyways

Yeah they really slimmed down their line, but these new fridges are cool, especially the ones with the ice trays in them. 75 is a perfect family size and I agree that 55 would be pushing it. Might as well go big or home home lol

Group 31 was my first choice, but after reading bunch of TW scary stories I opted for 27.

Scary stories like too much weight? Or something else?

Interested in scary stories. Since I’ve recently switched to an optima 31, but was reading recently that the Tacoma alternators don’t charge at a high enough amperage to satisfy the AGM batteries and can lead to their premature failure. But that was specific to the X2power. The optima has a wider charging amp range? I don’t know shit about electrical, I just don’t know if I need to do something about it or not. There’s a nifty little dongle that tricks the alternator into charging at a higher amp.

Stories/complaints about weight and cracking. Was I'm spending too much time on here, and when over-thinking researching I came across those complaints. Turns out that when wheeling, Tacomas will crack. Adding more weight, will help to crack (maybe) faster. It is what it is.

As above, I was referring to weight. I have a 150 Amp alternator, and I believe that the thing you're referring to was higher Voltage. And as you've mentioned, there is a thing for that (use at your own risk).
And since you've mentioned something, I think I'll hook up a charger to my battery sometime over the weekend. You know, just in case

Edit. Yes, I know... Completely anticlimactic....

Also, at the time, saved a bunch of $$ while getting a decent deal on 27F, and not needing to get a proper 31M cage

Ok I've seen the same camp fire stories.

I decided to go with two group 35 batteries and I'll hit them with my AGM battery charger once a month to combat the lower Tacoma voltage. Doesn't make sense to me to change the voltage of the truck for one component.

I was also concerned with the weight when I stepped up to the 31, but I asked and @EatSleepTacos told me to quit being such a little bitch. So I did and haven't thought about it since. Hahaha.

So, I've calmed my own fears by doing some Google-Fu this morning.

    This from the Northstar Website:
Will there be a list of vehicles that we do not want to sell product into because of their alternators?
No, the number of vehicles and systems that exist today would make it difficult to identify, manage and update a list on a regular basis. So instead we have set charging the charging parameters of between 14.1 volts and 14.8 volts as an acceptable charging range. So long as the battery charging remains within these tolerances the battery will perform to its engineered specifications. It is recommended that for every application the customer test the charging voltage to ensure it is within the acceptable limits.

And this from the Optima website regarding the bluetop marine batteries, 34M, 31M, and 27M:
    Recommended charging information:

    • Alternator:
      • 13.65 to 15.0 volts, no amperage limit.
So I'm going to breathe a tiny sigh of relief since the Optima range is a little more lenient, and just use my ultra gauge to keep an eye on it. Now, the ultra gauge is a brand new addition for me, but when I hooked it up Saturday I was sitting around 13.9 at idle.

I also enjoy over thinking things.
