Before I get hassled, I did search. I can't find any relevant answers to my questions that are within the past couple of years. I have owned many Tacomas but never a supercharger so I am a bit lost in this subject.

I am trying to purchase a 2000 Tacoma TRD OR 4X4 Manual Trans 3.4l with a factory installed Supercharger. 134k Miles.

From the research I did, it appears it is the 'black' version which I see members referring to that as the 2nd gen? Not sure if that is correct.

It has the URD 2.2 pulley, TRD boost gauge and an air/fuel gauge mounted on the passenger side dash by the glove box. There is also some sort of communication box mounted on the fire wall that says 'Innovate Motorsports' with wires going inside on the passenger side. In the glove box there is a cable with a female plug for some sort of diagnostics I would assume. Not sure if these work together or if the Innovate Motorsports box is for the gauge.

I looked up the URD 7th injector kit and I don't think it has that, but I really don't know what that kit looks like or even where this 7th injector goes specifically. Again, big noobie on this stuff.

The truck is very clean. No altered suspension. Arizona truck, no rust. Paint is good. Runs and drives perfect. It's a really nice truck just has this SC kit on it. I just don't know much about them. I just can't find specifically what I am looking for by searching so I am hoping you guys could help!

    So my questions are:
    • What is the '2nd gen' supercharger?
    • Is the 'Innovate Motorsports' box for the gauge or some sort of diagnostic communication system for the fuel/air?
    • Help me figure out if this truck has the 7th injector?
    • What is a reasonable price for this truck?

    Thank you in advance!

PS I can get photos if need be

    How much are they asking?

I’ve driven an ‘04 AC TRD 3.4L/5-speed with 141K, albeit without the supercharger (belongs to a friend), and I loved it!

I don’t practice the art of the third of pedal as often as I would like to, but whenever I drive a stick shift Toyota pickup of any model or year it’s like I’ve been driving that same truck for years; I just get along really well with manual transmission Toyota pickups for some reason!

I don't have a picture of the outside of the truck. I'll post that when I buy it.

The 2nd gen supercharger for 1st gens refers to the 2nd edition of the TRD supercharger that TRD released for these trucks. The 1st edition was grey colored and a little more boxy looking...the 2nd gen is black. The 2nd gen is the one you see more often since way more of those were sold, and are still being sold by Magnuson.

The URD 7th injector kit adds a standalone ECU device that controls the injector and is hidden somewhere inside the cab usually. Mine is mounted/hidden up behind the glove box. The 7th injector itself gets installed right at the air inlet for the supercharger after the throttle body. You'll see a shiny metal braided fuel line going to it.

A reasonable price in my opinion would be ten grand or less, but I'd be willing to go as high as $12K.

Grey is the 1st gen charger

Black is usually the 2nd gen (unless it was painted)

The housing casting and snouts are different.

URD 7th injector looks something like this:

Can't help you with the Innovate stuff unless you post a picture. Why not just ask the seller?

Awesome, thank you! What does the 7th injector do for these engines? Is it necessary? Some people have it, some don't it seems.

The Innovate gauge sounds like an AFR gauge which measures Wideband air/fuel ratios...that's a good sign if the truck has that installed, that means the owner knew that it was important to the health of the truck to be monitoring his AFRs. Many people don't and you run the risk of running too lean without knowing it. Lean kills engines

It is being sold at a private auction that's why I can't ask anyone!

Has the reserve been reached yet, or is it one of those "no reserve" auctions?

Exactly what I thought when I saw the gauge. I know whoever owned this truck took some pride in taking care of it.

the 3.4l is notorious for running lean when supercharged, especially if you live at or close to sea level and/or in a hot environment. The 3.4l supercharger is not intercooled so it gets heat soaked easily, which makes it easier to run lean.

The 7th injector basically adds another fuel injector right before the supercharger inlet that sprays extra fuel into the supercharger when you hit a certain load/boost/RPM range. By adding fuel to the mix you richen the fuel mixture and prevent the truck from running lean.
