Generally agree. I think the only thing worth commenting on with limited drive time is tip-in. Everything else should wait till at least around 500 miles.

 

Obviously, but this is not the problem.
The throttle value (open %) does not change from one truck to another.
So if person A presses the accelerator and throttle opens 15%, to them it's touchy
and if person B presses the accelerator and throttle opens 15%, it's not touchy.

Regardless, modifying the throttle angle limits per gear is not very hard to do.



Regarding reset AT/LV.
So this isn't confusing
Resetting LV/AT after a flash = not required
resetting LV/AT after a flash = is not harmful, and may be done at your discresion
resetting LV/AT after a flash = Should be done IF you have drivability issues (very odd shifting behavior, very odd engine behavior, or you hear any knock/detonation)
Resetting LV/AT after a flash = May make the truck run noticeably rougher for the first few miles (especially the transmission)
Resetting LV/AT should NOT be done just because you feel like doing it.
Resetting the LV/AT should NOT be done if you haven't recently flashed.

if you Reset LV/AT right after a flash = the first 25-50 miles of the trucks characteristics can be ignored.
if you Reset LV/AT right after a flash = the first 25-50 miles of the trucks shifting characteristics can be ignored

If you Reset LV/AT/ or even flashed the truck and are making judgements without putting AT LEAST 25 miles on the truck, you are not getting an accurate representation of how the truck will perform.

 

This has been a problem since day one. You really need a tank of fuel before making any real judgements.

There’s been multiple people who will flash a tune, drive around the block, not like it, flash another, drive around the block, not like it, flash another, drive around the block, not like it. Then wonder why their truck is all pissed off.

Indeed, I’m still rocking that tune. I do wish there was a 91oct version of it because I fill up 91 regardless ($2.70/gallon)

 

Just for more input on resetting lv and trans values. I have never tuned yet. Soon! Recently I re geared to 5.29 and added larger 33” tires and suspension. I reset my values To start fresh About 50 miles after mods and changes and right away noticed how rough shifts were. Shifts seemed much longer and would somewhat hesitate especially noticed in the first 4 gears. They Seemed to have smoothed out after a few hundred miles.

One question. If we flash and don't do the Resets, the 5min idle is still needed, right? I'm assuming yes, but just confirming.

 

So when do we get to do more WOT runs? Nothing better than when Mat says "Flash the Tune and do a bunch of Full Gas!"

Unless your truck is a weird 2019 like mine. It doesn’t like wide open throttle much. Does fine then seems the fuel is cut at a certain rpm above 6k and falls on its face then seems to regain fuel and begin acceleration again.

 

Idle for 10 minutes IIRC...

 

I've seen various times with five being the minimum. I only flash on a motor that is up to temp. After 4min, I can't feel anything interesting going on. That last minute is just insurance in my mind.

Idle learning happens at 176°F of the coolant.
Warm up truck, park it, flash it and let it idle until RPMs stabilize. About 5 min
..and turn air, a/c, butt warmers and dont touch a steering wheel..
