i have a question for anyone with aftermarket 16" wheels on a 2nd gen. did any of you have any trouble getting your 16" wheels on? specifically i am looking into 16x8 pro comp 7089s, but the issue i have ran into is that vendors, companies, etc. try to tell me that they are going to hit the brake caliper. did anyone else have this trouble also? i have finally realized why many people on here have 17's, they must have ran into this and decided to get the 17's and not worry about fitting. i don't see why an aftermarket 16" wheel will hit the caliper, but an aftermarket 16" wheel will? can anybody PLEASE help me out before i spend a ton of money on wheels that may not work!!!

i did ask a few guys and they said they worked on their trucks, and i'm not ignoring what they said or not taking their word. but i would like to know from a few more people before i buy these so i will feel a little better about this nonrefundable product.

I went to a 16 inch wheel from a 17 inch wheel and have had no problems whatsoever. Are you doing a mail order or taking to a shop? If you are taking it to a shop, put one without a tire on it to make sure they clear. They should. The first thing I did was grab one of my new wheels, walked out into the shop and put it on my truck and spun it. After that it was mount city. The offset may factor into it and if so get some QUALITY spacers.

well i'm buying them online. no shop anywhere around here has a vendor that does pro comp. they can get them for me, but i could get them cheaper myself online. they even suggested buying them online to save that extra hundred bucks. so i don't have the luxury of trying them out before i buy :(

lol like 90 percent of the site is running aftermarket wheels. Just make sure the backspacing matches up close to your factory wheels and you should be fine.

yeah, i noticed. but just hearing the vendors tell you that they won't fit makes me worry. however, i have never noticed a post on here from someone that got 16's saying that they had to send theirs back. it's just the vendors that say this. i'm just trying to make sure at the last minute, before i take a chance.

They have to cover the back just like I do at my dealership and at times it scares people out of stuff. For instance Toyota will only allow me to mount the tire size that came on the vehicle from the factory. Not that they will not fit/work but as soon as someone has an issue with something they want to come and blame you for something they requested that you do for them, and say things like if I had know it was going to alter this or that then I would not have done that. For every ignorant mistake someone makes, there is a jackass lawyer ready to back their stupity. Very sad that we have come to this in our society and noone wants to take the blame for their actions as soon as there is a problem with something. The good old days of I will do whatever you want me to do are over.

As long as you go with a positive offset as close to 0 or even a negative offset would be better. As long as you stay with a low positive offset, you'll be good to go.

well i was going to get them this morning, but i called in advance before i headed out like blackened taco suggested, and they don't have them in stock. luckily this 4wheel parts is only about 20 miles from atlanta, so they can get them soon. they will have them on monday and i have an appointment set up to get them put on tuesday at 3. thanks again blackened taco for helping me out and not overlook the obvious. this store is about a 45min drive from my house and i didn't even know! ha. but i saved a good bit of money by picking them up at the store. plus they are 20% off! the guy cut my labor charge to put them on in half (from about $100 to $50)! and i won't have to wait but a few days to get them! :)
