The Tacoma will actually be in Coopersburg this weekend if anyone wants to check it out.

I’m towing the enclosed trailer down with the dodge full of house stuff. Karen is towing the camper down with the Tacoma.

I'd probably feel bad about buying something like that anyway. Like, half the pride in offroading is knowing you did the work yourself.

I'm still set on a SAS'd turbo'd single cab once this one is paid off.

Let me know if you ever find out who that "guy" is. All the welders I know that put welding rigs on their beds didn't have an issue. I don't get it. :notsure:

I know exactly who he is actually.

You know where I work, there are only a couple of garages in the valley.

Can any mechanic people on this board tell me if they would know what the name of a tool like this would be in the automotive industry? This is a surgical tool that I used to open up knee joints and hold them open in place. I'd like to use something like this for a broken seized part that I need to pull out of the end of a tube in an awkward spot in my Volvo engine bay. Its a broken piece of plastic tube wedged into a rubber tube that is part of my PCV breather box oil return system. I can't reach it well without spending 1-2 hours removing the full air intake and fuel rail and throttle cables, etc. (Which I don't feel like doing!) But I was kind of hoping to find something like this tool here, so as to not need to use my own tool.

Reversible snap ring pliers might be just what you need

Go to 3:00 to see why reversible would work

I have never seen a tool like that does not mean there is not one out there.

Now would a better set of Chinese Fingers work

I have a cheapo pair like that. Don't have quite the heft I need and the surgical tool clips in place at whatever tension I'd like. I thought I'd get it good and snugged and snap shut and then use another thing like a screwdriver to provide the upward prying force to get the busted tube out of the tube.

Bent long nose pliers are a grasping tool, the thing is I cannot grasp this part so they need to provide an "opening" force, not a pinching force. The working action of the snap ring pliers is the force I need, but those don't have the head shape I need to really dig into the busted part from underneath to provide me the lifting wiggling force I need to shimmy out this busted tube.

There are hefty snap ring pliers out there. You might be able to do a crude rendition of your surgical tensioner with a pair of vise grips on the plier handles.

There is also another style of snap ring pliers similar to this; I have a pair and they're quite sturdy:

Or you could just use the surgical tool and give it a good cleaning afterwards... :anonymous:

Oooh... those are a potential. And you only live like 5-10 minutes from me. If only they had a right angle bend to get down in this hole (no sick comments anyone) they'd be perfect. Might I try to borrow those Dave?

So the channellock ones I linked have multiple tips at the end held in with a set screw.

It sounds like you're looking for something that will hold open the tubing hands free, which is why I thought of the 927s since it can be switched up tips open or closed without pressure...

    Or the gyno tool
