True... When we were looking at trailers, this is the one thing that kept popping up. How much can I load the trailer before unsafe and ILLEGAL. But manufacturers and salesman don't care. As long as legally it can be towed from their lot, after is your problem. This thread is a must read for all who want to tow, period.

relying on a sales person at time of sale is gonna get someone hurt or worse.

When we were looking we had a sales ass try to talk us into a 28ft “feather lite” to pull behind our 3rd gen 4Runner. Not gonna work on many different levels. He wasn’t happy when we left the booth at the RV show. And folks were staring.....

 

Thought about that with the '05 Tundra, went with a Hellwig rear swaybar and Hellwig rear helper springs both from sdtrucksprings.com.

Roadmaster could have been a better setup.

Anyone own or have experience with an Avenger ATI 17BH, I found a used 2018 under $10,000. It would be our first camper.

Which brand of weight distributing hitches are the best? I want to buy one before buying a camper and not buy from the camper lot.
Also thinking of a Tekonsha P3 brake controller, is it a good decision?

 

I have the Equalizer weight distribution hitch, love it, easy to hook up and heavy duty bars instead of chains.
I have the P3 brake controller and once you adjust it for your camper, I never mess with it...

 

Anybody have any experience pulling the Forest River E-Pro 19FD? We’re also looking at the r-pod 180, they’re about the same weight, although the r-pods may pull better since they’re a little more aerodynamic and a little more tapered in the front.

Just picked up this 2020 178BHSK Salem FSX by Forest River. It weighs 3,500 dry.
Towed better than expected. Running a WDH and HD Dakar’s.

 

Which hitch?

Picked up this Flagstaff E Pro 19FBS last weekend. Truck did reasonably well, some 3rd gear action into headwinds and pulling grades, but nothing the truck couldn't handle.

 

Good to know. I’m looking at the Flagstaff E-Pro 19FD, which is pretty much the same without a slide out, pull out couch with a full instead of a fixed queen bed and a little lighter dry and tongue weight. Are you happy with it? it seems like the Flagstaffs have a higher quality/classier interior.

 

What do those Flagstaffs Run? We're heavily looking at Rpods and the Nobo 16.x series campers

 

We looked at the 19FD and I actually preferred that it had no slide out, but the other half wasn't crazy about it, so this was a great compromise. I did quite a bit of research and the E Pro/Geo Pro(They're the same thing) lineup definitely stood out as good bang for the buck in this size class. Aluminum structure/sub flooring, Azdel backed fiberglass walls, Dexter Torsion axles, etc. And yes, the interior is incredible with the light colors.

 

We were right around 20.5+TTL for ours.

 

Thanks for the Info . That ain't too much more than the NOBO we are considering. There's a camper show this weekend I think we are going to venture to hopefully they have some there.
