I believe the point being missed here by all is that the Taco held up pretty well to an F250 "at full throttle."

Take that insurance check and get 35" tires, 3.5" over LT front, 62" LT leaf springs in the rear with bed cage+ 16" bypass shocks, full fiberglass all 4 corners, possibly bumpers and armor.

    Don't be afraid. Do it.

Completely fixable... you'll need a new suspension in the rear, rear axle, rear wheels, and bed side. its probably in the 11-12k range. What's the truck worth.... 22k? I have no idea.

As they said... when you get the truck back, file a diminished value claim. Do not mention it before the truck is done. You may need to get an appraisal, but its worth it.

Most bigger body shops, and insurance report to Carfax/Autocheck. Even some Police departments report as well. If you pay out of your own pocket to a locally owned body shop.. there will be no record. Any trade-in appraiser with their salt doesn't depend on Carfax to detect a repair. I can tell you with a minute just by looking at a car if its been in a body shop.

Insurance company is going to make a financial decision based on numbers, you're not going to sway that.
Sorry your truck got banged up, good thing they have insurance and owned though!
Jr needs to take a break and think about it for a few months.

    A fellow Aggie. Nice.

Sucks about the truck. Let us all know more details after the shop estimates the repairs. But I would take this opportunity to upgrade some of that rear suspension.

Not exaggerating, but left out details. The F250 was facing directly at my truck from 20’ away (it was backed into their driveway). Kid got in the truck, started it and ended up jamming on the accelerator instead of the brake. She had 20’ of runway to go full throttle. So, no...it wasn’t at highway speed but there was also no deceleration until the impact.

I’m assuming they’ll repair it as well unless there is damage to the drivetrain. Then I guess we’ll see what happens.

yes. Lots of pics have been taken and no...those did not exist prior to the accident. Those will be included in the damage report.

15 year old girl trying to learn how to drive. This is a long drawn out story that I won’t get into. Needless to say...

    She failed.

I mean, a bent frame is repairable if you're close enough to Mexico.

Those types of side impact (where the bulk of force was translated directly through the axle) are more often than not reparable. I doube that the suspension will even be replaced. Make sure you get new wheels! Side note: who teaches a 15 year old girl how to drive through suburbia in a lifted F250?

I wasn't a girl, but I learned to drive in a 1993 GMC Suburban. It had the turning radius of a school bus and was a bitch to parallel park... but if you can dodge a wrench...

I had a similar a year ago. It was a jeep who caught me same spot, but the right side. Tire took the hit and blew, the panel had a similar damage. Shop checked alignment, bed and other stuff. Panel repair, wheel and tire were less than 3K.
But I was moving during the impact.

My concern is really with the CG, poor field of view, and the narrow streets coupled with lack of familiarity with how a vehicle handles... not so much with the gender. If anything, it was more direccted at the parent that thought it was a good idea.
