I am wanting to purchase some pro comp wheels for my 2012 Toyota Tacoma regular cab 4x4. They are 16x10 5.5 pattern 6 lug. I called to order them and was told they would not work on my truck. They said I would have to go to a 17 inch wheel. Said that they would rub on my brake caliber. The wheel are pro comp 69 series vintage. Someone help me out with this that actually knows?

I have 16” methods, and I’ll get a slight bit of rub on tape on wheel weights, but other than that nothing

take a flap disk to your caliper and make the clearance if you really want them that bad.
dont mount a tire to the wheel till youre happy with results. im sure you can return the wheel if it doesnt work out. **I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE. JUST MY .02**

Why not just buy wheels that will fit without having to modify? that'll be much easier

Thanks for advice. Damn it seems like everything I want to do I’m f***** lol. I thought about maybe taking a flappy to it. I assume a lot would have to be took off. I don’t think I want them that bad. And I’m not switching to a 17 inch wheel.

Picked out some different wheel that will work. And now 4 wheel parts are trying to say I can’t run a 10 inch wheel without a lift.

Curious why you’re dead set on 10” wide wheels and what tire you are planning to run. 315? You’ve just entered a whole new level of $$$$. You’re definitely going to get rub without a lift, and probably even after you lift.

I’m betting the back side of the spokes will rub the caliper and not the barrel of the wheel.

8” wide wheels are going to work with a much narrower and smaller diameter tire and save you a few thousand in mods that would have been necessary to get the bigger tires to fit and make your 4cyl happy.

Honestly though, 16 X 7 wheels are perfect for your truck. They will work just fine with the largest tire your 4 cyl can spin with stock gearing.

Dude you’re talking about grinding your brake calipers down for your pro comp wheels to fit.
1: think about getting some better, high quality wheels

2: Don’t grind down a brake caliper... to fit wheels..

If you were talking about some 17# forged rays I’d probably be for it but some generic Chinese cast stuff, find a different wheel man.

Ok so here is what I have found out. I went ahead and ordered one dick Cepek wheel. 16x8 and before I put a tire on it I just want to put the wheel on and see exactly what would happen. Ok the wheel doesn’t touch the caliper at all. That’s with the lug nuts run all the way up. The wheel spins freely. But I just don’t know if the studs are gonna be long enough. The studs don’t even stick through to far with the factory wheel. The nuts they sent with the one wheel I bought is beveled so they go in a pretty good way. I think the wheels will fit. Anybody have Dick Cepek-2 wheels on their yota?
