    so a few weeks back I turned a project over to the production guys to do their thing. was very clear that we have no extra material and that the stone was special order. came into work about 2 weeks ago to find a form for a remake on my desk. for this project. gave it back to the production manager and told him there's nothing i can do. so we have to order more material....at our expense. manager asks me what they should do with the bad stuff and i told him to throw it out. yeah, its a huge waste and it sucks but its of no use to us. new stone comes in, get the project ready and same thing. no extra material, no remakes possible. so yesterday there's another remake on my desk for the same project. but a different room and a different kind of stone. they threw it away with the bad parts even though there was nothing wrong with this one. and today same thing, different room, different stone, another remake. why? because they threw it away too.
    when the manager asked me what they should do with the bad pieces and i told him to throw it all out they thought that meant EVERYTHING for the project and not just the one stone that we were replacing. so now we're eating even more cost on this job to replace pieces that didn't need to be replaced and wasting more time.
    half of my job is trying to stay a step ahead of these guys and trying to head off every scenario possible for them to screw stuff up. most days i can manage but every once in a while they surprise me and find a new way to screw us over.
    so the next time they ask if they can throw something out, i don't care what it is, the answer is no.

    i've done nothing but remakes since the first of the year. just costing us time and money.
    we get monthly bonuses based on our profits....nov/dec were the two best bonuses i've ever seen. i wouldn't be surprised if there is an invoice in my paycheck for a refund this friday :laugh:
