It's replacing the sound system and navigation system, and I know people spend just as much money or more on a good head unit and it might not offer the features the iPad can offer. Yes always, to each his own.

I opted to do the Wifi model and have a mobile wifi device due to AT&T eliminating the unlimited data plan. It was about the same money going this route as the 3G model and the service is better than AT&Ts.

I want to know what the heart of the system is. The ipod hooks to what? Is it a line out converter that goes straight to an amp? Or is there a real head unit buried somewhere? No I didnt watch the soundman video...

Well if you're doing it the WRONG way...a simple headphone to RCA splitter to an amp will work.

If you're doing it the RIGHT way then you'd have some sort of USB DAC (digital to analog converter) that would turn the signal into RCA's and then go to an amp.

If you're a freak like me and want the maximum amount of awesome possible in your truck you'd do the following.

    iPad>>>USB DAC w/ optical out>>>Audison Bit1>>>Amp>>>????>>>Audio bliss :D

Well you hit the nail on the head.

It connects to the audison bit one, amazing piece of machinery, then that hooks up with my amps for my highs and subs.

The price is 2,000 dollahhhs out the door (not including iPad)
This includes all parts (besides ipad) and labor (about 2 days, worth of work)

And what parts would that include? Amps and speakers too or do you already have a system and he's just integrating the iPad and a new bit1?

i'm guessing he already has the amps since he is referencing subs.
That 2 grand sounds like it is just covering the audison, wiring, and fabrication. Thats a lot of money for something he shows you how to do in a video IMHO.

Damn! 2 grand is a lot. You can get a sick double din for half that with more functions (besides wifi anyways). Not for me, but to each his own.
