That feature helps you get out of a hairy situation, it allows you to ride the starter out in gear.

Yes sorry mixed up stop and cancel, the original comment said "hill start feature". So I was taking that as starting the truck.

"Hill Start Assist" is what is on the Sport and Manual SR's, it hold the brakes for a few seconds.

I have significant experience with MT's but it took me a couple weeks to get used to my OR MT.

Yep, I like this feature. 2 second hold, or apply throttle to release brakes (whichever comes first).

I found I was working against the brakes a bit when I first got this 19, but that was just a footwork issue.

You engage the hill start feature simply by pushing the brake down farther than you normally need to.

My RAV4 A/T worked like that...

Is that in the owner's manual?

I don't recall reading that... hmm

Mine will hold the brakes with even a short push of the pedal if on the slope that it triggers on.

It has become a minor PITA with the 2LM since almost no throttle is needed, so I am fighting the brakes a bit or playing the guessing game for when it releases.

I've noticed the slight jerk on my 2nd gen too, I think it's just me moving too quickly to get to where I know the clutch starts to engage. It doesn't happen if I go slowly, only if I go somewhat quickly to where it catches.

2nd Gens have the accumulator also. It slows engagements, so that might be your issue? There were a few different accumulator arrangements on the 2nd Gen. One has enough line slack where you can just bend the lines and install a coupler.

This was posted in the 2nd Gen forum and was what kicked off my research:

I have a very similar situation. 2017 Taco OR MT SB LB, 69k. Like many other drivers, I've stalled in reverse. When I try to turn the engine over again it takes ~4 seconds to catch. I've put a multimeter across the battery while starting and had a max voltage of 13.8V and min of 10.3V.

Not likely to take it back to the dealer at this point but definitely glad to see this thread. Sub'd!

I have a 2019 MT and I occasionally get the slight jerk from time to time and from what I read, the accumulator causes most of it.

Still dealing with a buzz in my clutch pedal over 3000 RPMS if anyone wants to chime in :)

Sometimes my starter makes a high pitched noise when I stall or turn engine off and back on quickly.

I bought a 2017 MT brand new and now have 50K miles. What your describing is exactly what experienced until I reflashed the ECU with the new factory tuning.

there’s a big thread on this.

I now have OVTune, and now I don’t experience any of this anymore.

I thought I saw on Toyota's website it is on the OR? And I've read of certain OR trucks having this feature. Weird.

Yup, I am still jerky with it after a year because of that. As to resetting the computer after a stall to get a successful start, that too has happened a couple ties to me.
