Roll pan is tempting, but how much do you think that would be to paint?

you gotta be grinding it out in the parking lot, which people figure out real quick not to do because it kills your turning radius....or you gotta be near the limit of the trucks ability to turn at high speed, which most will never reach

i'm not saying go out and drive around in 4wd all the time, but its not going to hurt the truck if youre 4hi here and there and bone dry pavement just driving around normally

I don't count stereo systems when it come to OEM, because factory systems generally suck; And my grille is Toywerx, so it's better than OEM!

Is that something you have any expertise in? I know you'd charge a lot less than a body shop!

I can paint, but I guarantee you it would come out looking like shit because I'm not that good a prepping! Why do you think I'm sending the wheel skins to my uncle in South Carolina?

I have many stories from my many toyota trucks. I'll stick to the current one. I have had 5 or so toyota pickups in my life. I have a '12 TX Pro. It is the first one I've had with all the drivers safety shit. I bought the truck and had snow the first weekend. Naturally I hit the traction control button and went slipping and sliding my way into an s turn. Then it happened, anti lock brakes started going crazy and I'm sitting in the middle of the road saying WTF. So I immediately hit Google to find out there there is 2 stages of traction control. I am heading to a lake in farm country to check out ice depth. I see some kids on a quad that had tried to run through a snow drift and buried it. I thought, I'm going to drift around this turn and look like a badass. Well with all the nanny shit off, it had no problem being broadside, and just kept on going. By the time i got the momentum slowed down the front wheels had made it to the edge of the road head on with a farmers fence. Of course the weight of the truck crushed the frozen snow holding it up, and to add insult to injury my truck slid into a wooden fence post. So without making a payment on the truck i managed to take out the front (wanna be) bumper, fog light, etc...

Went to a parking lot that evening and got a feel for the truck.

JK. I like the side step cutouts. Makes getting in and out of the bed so easy.

@Taco critter is saying a 4WD/off-road bumper wouldn't look good on a 2WD truck and I would agree with him...

I'm just a bit pissed that I can't find a legit OEM bumper cheap!

Lots of stupid things... Just the ones that I have pics of though.

Alone, stuck in permafrost turned quicksand in the middle of the Yukon Territory.

Took 2 hours or so to dig/maxtrax/winch out.

Base of Morrison Jeep Trail in a monsoon, we both clipped this tiny corner of a huge boulder that was sticking out of the ground, both lost a sidewall of the rear tire. His was a Cooper, mine was duratrac... Mine was a hard enough hit to chip a chunk out of the lip of the rim and we were both aired up.

The next day I didn't use slider rock correctly on the Morrison Jeep Trail. Proper way for a long ass truck is to hit it with the slider, turn into it and use it as a pivot. I tried to go around but there's not enough trail for that. Front end slid down and I was caught not being able to go forward or backward without damage.

Alone, uphill in wet, deep, off camber snow.

Winch forward plus hi lift to keep rear from going over edge.

Goofing off... Caught deeper snow on the road and she pulled me right in

    FB_IMG_1460857432722.jpg

Then all the easy breaks and get out of jail free cards caught up to me at once.

Deep snow drift covering a wash out, left it running while digging out and didn't think it would be long or a problem. Chinese electronics shorted and t'was the end. This was after it was pulled from the washout filled with snow.

Expensive hobby! That last incident has cost at least half the value of the truck out of pocket. All over saving maybe $75 on seat heaters that looked the same as slightly more expensive ones. :frusty:

Lesson learned and hopefully others will think twice about Chinese knock off junk.

    Two of them.

Running late to work... i always back into my turnaround, then go down the driveway. Forgot that i worked on my truck the night before and had my wifes car there, she always parks in the garage. Muscle memory and completely disregarding my backup camera, i turn the wheel and speed in reverse. BOOM. Wife's civic - $3000 in damage. Tacoma = scratched hitch ball.
    Wife was good about it.

My first time plowing in the taco, first time plowing ever this year. I made such a mess, kept driving over snow, turning around by going down the road, no balance between plow controls and shifting. etc etc etc. Just total incompetence. I got real good the second time through, but man that first time gave the neighbors a show.

You won't like the 3rd Gen rear bumper, it's pretty much all plastic and fiberglass.

The plastic keeps detaching from the metal?
