Check out my build thread from the link in my signature. I had 265 tires with stock suspension, then with Fox coilovers, and now 285 tires with the same small lift. Also being in MI, you already probably know that the Toyota trucks are rare, though there seem to be more in northern MI and the UP.

    OME and worth every penny.
Every single guy I know even after kids gone wants a 4 door for resale. It's like everyone wanting a 3 BR house even if no kids. Just led to everything being more expensive as the DBC used to command a big premium new. Now everything is high because AC is rare. Go figure. There was 1 row when I started buying trucks, dogs and kids went in back.

You can haul longer items with a short bed. I have a bed extender and here I have some 10 foot sections of gutters, 12 foot boards are no problem either.

    Nice.

Did you change out the chrome trim on the mirrors?
How about your emblems? New or overlays?

It's pretty awesome, the part all the way in the back expands wider so you can haul larger items too.

Only one on the lot the day I bought. I would have compromised on color, but the access cab was the only way a deal was happening.

Not lifted or different wheels but otherwise what the OP wants.

I've had a DCSB Dakota. Maybe four times in two years did I load it up with people but I hauled stuff weekly, so I went for the AC when I got a Tacoma. My wife and I don't have children and it's not looking good so there's no reason for me to get a DC right now. A DCLB won't fit in my garage.

It comes down to what you plan on doing with the truck. Do you want more interior room or exterior storage?

I can go to the lumberyard and pick up 2x4x8s they lay flat with the tailgate down and no overhang. I've used what @shakerhood has to haul a 14' canoe without problems too.

I should add something... I grew up and my dad had regular cabs. My first two pickups I owned were regular cabs. I'm used to more cargo space than cab space.

A guy that's had double cabs all his life might feel cramped in an AC pickup.

It was an access cab or nothing for me. Took a while to find what I wanted and when I test drove mine, someone else showed up to look at it. Getting harder to find but still in demand by a small group of people. Love my truck. Waiting for the stock tires to die before upgrading. May not lift it, if I do it will only be 1-2”.

Edit 8/29/23: This post aged well! I ended up doing what this forum is good for, spending my money. I ended up getting a 2” lift (Bilstein 5160/6112), powder coating the wheels and putting on Falken Wildpeaks (32”), adding aftermarket bumpers, and getting a GFC topper. Whole new setup now! Still love this truck! Next week I’ll be installing SCS 17” wheels and Nitto Ridge grapplers (33’s)

I know that they sell a lot more double cabs and they work for families, but I grew up when men were men and pickup trucks had bench seats. So I got an access cab and never considered (or would consider) a double cab. Hope that they never stop building access cabs.

I wouldn't have anything other than the access cab. Kids are gone and I want the long bed. Wife asked "where are the grandkids going to sit." In the bed like the old days or in their parents rugrat haulers.

Oh man THOSE were the days. I'm 35, when I was little we'd need to go to town and we'd jump in the bed of my dad's 76 Chevy 1 ton, but we had to sit down on the floor! That was the rule.

I also remember when mom needed to run into the gas station she'd leave us in the car, engine running. We had to lock the doors and someone would sit in the driver's seat so that, if someone started messing with the car, we could blow the horn.

    Different time back then.
