Does anyone actually like the chrome rear bumper?

I have had 2 chrome bumpers that had to be replaced with black ones because the chrome rusted terribly.

$37 gets you two cans which is MORE than enough to paint those little bits. You could probably paint the entire lower 8-12" of the body with both cans. I have used this stuff before. If prepped properly, will last for years. They have other adhesion promoters and etching primers that may be useful for this application, but dealer's choice.

 

Nah, i don’t have them. My sport came with paint matched. Browsing TW i’ve read people mentioning them before, so i thought i’d pass it along.

 

Still have my chrome rear bumper caps. I'd rather spend the money I would on bumper shells toward something else. The chrome grille surround had to go, I replaced that. Just depends how much it bothers you.

This is an option I saw if you don't want a whole new bumper. It covers the chrome on the rear bumper.

ebay pretty much has painted bumper caps, true replacements not the double stick tape shells for everything but freakin MGM for $120, kinda ticks me off. I bought some unpainted black ones on eBay and gonna bring them to a friend to attempt to paint match with his much better than rattle can setup that would be my only option.

 

I think the chrome looks fine on certain colors, but quicksand is not one of them.
One of the first things I did was paint my bumper caps and grille black.

There were 2 almost identical cement off roads at the dealer when I bought mine, one chrome one body color. Color matched bumper was what sold me.

 

One of the first mods I did, I was never a big fan of the plastic dip method.... purchased the matte black one from ecological... they matched the fender flares perfect. I wanted the textured option but they were sold out at the time. Easy install too.

 

I totally say the ecoological covers as well. Installed mine almost a year ago, and they’re holding up perfectly.

 

I don’t have a problem with mine, if you don’t like it change it. But there are much better mods to spend your money on. Just saying.....

 

I order mine over. year ago and they still look brand new.

The rear chrome bumper on a 3rd gen is plastic. I couldnt believe it myself.

So is any other color, sad.
