My SRS system light is on and I just called the dealership and they quoted me $79.99 just to scan the OBD2??? My scan tool doesn’t scan the airbag system otherwise I would do it myself. Is this price normal?

Go to AutoZone or any major parts store in your area, they do scans for nothing and tell you what the codes are and what you probably need to fix it.

He might as well buy a bottle of AC recharge with stop leak in it and a bottle of coolant system stop leak while he's at it over there. o_O

The dealership diagnostic tools weren't free. They had to pay for them just as you do. They need to make money to stay in business. With that said, autozone won't be able to check an SRS light. Find and independent shop or spend some money and get a tool. I have a lower end Autel that was roughly 150 bucks.

Thanks for the scanner recommendations. I’d rather buy a good one than pay the dealer to do it. Any other good scanners that do engine and SRS codes? I was looking at this one but don’t know anything about scanners.

Or just search on here and download tech stream and buy a cable you can have a pirated version of the oe software for less then what the dealer charges for one scan

:notsure: Plenty of members do it, including myself. Its nice to be able to program your own keys and such as well and turn off seat belt alarms.

I have a LAUNCH, but a different model. Fantastic tool! It will do everything from diagnosing, resetting, configuring, to even displaying the temperature of your tires. It cost me a lot but has also saved me a lot.

Now I'm looking at a bluetooth printer for it.

It does spare keys too? Now you’ve got my attention. I only have one key. I’ll theoretically give it a look.

I went with version 2.0.4 which was around 70 dollars on Amazon.. the earlier version can be found for around 20ish dollars. For some reason my phone isn’t letting me add a link.

I’ll try this again here’s a link to one on eBay https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/173258174593

So basically buy the cable, update drivers, and find a copy of the Techstream software somewhere? I was able to track down the 1.4 versions, where did you find the 2.0.4?

I bought an old refurbished laptop from Tiger Direct for $150. I bought a cheap version of tech stream off of Amazon for $50. Installing it was a nightmare, so I just gave up and let a nice man from somewhere in Asia install for me via LogMeIn. Took him 5 minutes.

Sketch O Rama? Yep! Does it work great? Yep! I use it on my wife's Lexus too.
