Middle point: We need to do both. The first thing that needs to be done is they need to make it "uncomfortable" to be homeless. Allowing the RVs and tents to be put up anywhere with no repercussions only encourages them to do it. The programs we currently have to help the homeless get clean (and/or get the mental health care they need) and get back on their feet need to be run better and should not be opt-in. If you break the law, you either go to jail (where you'll be put into a program), or you participate in the drug rehab/work release/shelter and get your shit together.

I'm all for freedom of choice and liberties, but if you are a homeless drug addict you have forfeited your right to make your own decisions and choose your own path.

 

Agreed for the most part. I love that the city just lets people do whatever the fuck they want and then are shocked that its turning into a shithole and everyone hates it and is leaving.

Yeah man wtf. We should do a meetup just to go out and clean that place up in force and winch all the abandoned vehicles to one spot and Willy Pete them to the ground.

Back then I had none...I didn't have huge tires either so didn't think much of it back then. Right now I have just front rekgens. Need a way to jimmy rig my rear rekgens since i have HC bumper in the back.

 

If anyone is planning a cleanup and needs trash bags, I can tactically acquire a couple hundred cases.

As @Shadowhunter posted, that area is now officialy closed to the public, there aren't gates up yet but there are signs up at either end of the powerline acess and its being patrolled and trespass tickets are being issued.

Hopefully a few years down the road they manage the area and re-open it like @Eazy.E mentioned they did with reiter pit.

 

That’s not gonna happen. I read a screenshot Email conversation between a head DNR manager and a local ATV representative. A quick summary of the conversation is Reider cost millions to prepare for their standards, Walker costs 300k a year to maintain and they don’t have any money to build or maintain another spot.... I wonder why they don’t have any money..... At then end of the day we lost another spot and the crack heads go to bed with a full belly.

 

honest question, did you spend a lot of time in Concrete before moving there? I’ve spent a lot of time up there and after the first few days i couldve Told you it was “Tweaker Approved”

Any info on where the gates will be placed?

 

From what I’ve read the county road part “Old Concrete Sauk Valley Rd” will remain open. You will no longer be able to take a right or left under the power lines at the 4 way. On Illabott Creek they tank trapped it with a rock wall and put a gate across the gravel portion. They could slap a gate about anywhere past the road to Texas ponds at a pinch point on the Christian Camp side.

No a in couple local ORV Facebook groups. Some guys have been corresponding with DNR and putting their Emails back and forth up to read. Nowhere official like a DNR website. Just piecing it together.
