We should organize a meetup and go off-roading one day for the MS members.

I don't know of any but if you find out let me know. I'm down for a mild off-road trip.

head over there if you want to see the whole thread or say your in

I have been to every ride the past 7 years. great group of guys and this is a family friendly ride. I will probably be leading. but stock trucks are fine there are bypasses and all the trails are dead end so we have to come right back if you don't want to do an obstacle

Chillin' The Groundhog Feb 2-3 2019

Why do we do this? Here's why: This event is how we beat cabin fever each winter the MS-Mud way! Dig out your hardcore camping gear, and grab some extra blankets.

This started out as a way to test my gear for the AZ Run, and just to break the cabin fever, but has become a tradition all its own. Whether we call it "Chillin' Out" or Chillin' the Groundhog" depends on which weekend it falls on.

THE PLAN: February 2nd and 3rd. Saturday and Sunday. We will head out to camp Saturday afternoon, camp overnight, then do some riding on Sunday.

THE PLACE: We will be in the DeSoto National Forest, Chickasawhay District. Vehicles must be road legal and capable of running on the highway.
Trail rating will be around a 2.5, but that could change with weather conditions.

I require strong front and rear recovery points. (hook, hitch, or d-ring) and a working CB radio. All other recovery gear is optional. If you have questions about your setup, post here, and we'll help you.

Seat belts and proper child restraints must be used while vehicles are in motion, whether we are on the highway or the trail. I will be happy to explain the reasoning behind that at the drivers meeting or around the campfire.

We can all meet out there on Saturday at whatever time we like. (You could even get out there Friday night, if you wanted to.)

Be sure to top off your fuel in Laurel or Richton on your way to camp, depending on which direction you are coming from.

We will eat like kings as usual. I will buy, and cook supper, breakfast and lunch and hit y'all up for about $8 bucks a head, but you are in no way obligated to pay. (Voluntary honor system.)

If you have food allergies, or special needs, don't hesitate to PM me.
Saturday Supper to be determined when I go shopping.

Breakfast will be the usual hot breakfast fare.
Lunch will be chilli dogs, of course.
If you want to bring your own food, you certainly can. Please let me know if that is your plan so I don't figure you into the head count for food.

Bring your own snacks and drinks.

You will be expected to bring your own camping gear for one night. Tent, chair, bedding, clean clothes, toiletries, medicine, industrial strength blow dryer, and anything else you may need to spend the night. You may want to bring a tent heater, depending on the weather.

I will provide a portable outhouse. A shower will NOT be provided on this camp out.

Camp will be in a well-wooded pine forest, with adequate clearing for tents.

Bring an armload of (hardwood) firewood if you can.
    Do not bring alcoholic beverages.

This is a good chance to get away and do something you don't normally do. This is a family-friendly outing. Bring the kids, spouse, and the old folks. We always have a good time around the campfire Saturday night.

We will do some riding Sunday, and you will probably need 4wd to get through some of the muddy and washed out places, but I don't expect anything treacherous.

If you have any questions, post up and ask. At the very least, PM me with your questions or concerns. I want everyone to feel welcome.

there might are might not be some of this so if you care about your paint you can wait for us at the begining of the tight spots as we will have to come right back through

There’s a semi new machine shop in a Columbia that does firearms on the side, too. Just spreading the local news of local talent if anyone may be so inclined.

Sorry, just saw this. The pics of my truck were taken in NC, in the Cherokee NF.

Hey all, I just moved to the Biloxi area. I was wondering if there are any groups that meet or any trails in the area that people frequent.

There’s a few trails down this way, but nothing like NC trails. There’s an Overland group based mainly out of Mobile, AL that have monthly meetings and do a few trips each year. I think it’s Overland Alabama SE group or something like that, on FB.

Anyone from the coast seen the white 3rd gen around Long Beach with the HC rear bumper? Clean looking rig. Saw it pass by the other day while I was working on the bandaid buggy.

I haven’t noticed it, there’s a black AC with a 6” lift and pink shackles on a steel front bumper around Gulfport and pass/Long Beach area.

You and the bandaid buggy work in the Pass also? I see them around the harbor a lot.
