That would be the only location in the entire room with quarter round over the top of it though.

Looks like they used shoe molding (1/4 round) to cover the gap between front edge of casing and the sidelight.
When you’re replacing the casing get enough shoe molding to cover the bottom gap too. You’re gonna need to learn to cope and probably have to buy a coping saw lol
Good news it’s painted so you can caulk to seamless ness :)
Edit : somebody beat me to it

Got the rest of the lights in. The pup really likes her yard (and I’m liking this low light feature on the iPhone, it was pitch dark other than these lights)

rip a strip of a piece of your baseboard material at the bottom where it is flat equal to the gap thickness , glue it to the top edge of the baseboard with the primed edge up to pack it out

I’m not sure I understand. Say the gap is 1/2”. You’re saying cut 1/2” off the bottom of a piece of baseboard, then glue it to the top of the back of the other baseboard so the primed side is on top? Are you saying do that just to have matching material?

yes , just so its pre primed and matching material but thats not a deal breaker , any filler material would be ok as long as it will accept paint

Thats what I would say to do too. What is the trim you plan to do for the window? Could come all the way down and fill the floor trim between. Best would be to just come into the flat “shelf” though. Think that would give it the most finished look. Between doors the between trim fits but my assumptions about this would be the “shelf” like most suggest.

Between example to show what I meant. Ignore the beat up original door trim.

Again, I think this would be a secondary option. Shelf is the way to go.

Need some help. How much should some simple framing cost? Looking to have an alcove turned into a closet and got a quote that I think is stupid high, but maybe it’s good and I just don’t know it. C1EE8F95-AD65-48A1-8749-758B166080FB.jpg

Yeah I've done two. In two different houses...more than enough. Simple in theory. PITA in implementation.

Im just beginning to update my home we had built 20 years ago.
Plans call for new counter tops in the kitchen and vanity tops in the bathrooms. Also new carpet and flooring through out the first floor. Removing wall paper which is in several rooms is proving to be the biggest challenge. The builder knew we were wall papering and did a half ass job on the dry wall work because they knew we would not see it. Between the mess of removing glue I have found more drywall repairs than I had planned on. We are using a steam wall paper remover but it is still very time consuming. Only have the master bathroom nearing completion. I also had a new shower installed there. Next is the Master Bedroom. Also plan to redo the front of the house with shaker siding and trim. That will be farmed out but the rest I am attempting to do. I got all winter. This is my house and my toys in the driveway.gasser nats 2017 113.jpg
