I used to worry about the weight and now I'm rocking the 35 was fueled 20 x 10 in a matrix spindle lift I put a chip in to help with the gear ratio but ultimately you want to do the ring and pinion if you're like overlander if you have us steel aftermarket bumpers like I do 20 in rate you want to upgrade your spring rate and you alternately want to go either with the four eight eight for the 529 read year if you're you know if you're over a lot of weight and you can tell by when you're driving it if your RPMs or winding out cuz when you regear it's a big difference you kind of have to to regear if you go up 235 and you had a lot of weight you definitely have to regear

both will fit, up too you, the first is slightly bigger than stock, give you some extra ground clearance, im sure the weight it neglible between the two if same ply.

I have run both and I see no difference to 1+ MPG over the e rated or heavier tire. I too thought that running lighter tire will save me mpg since going 33", physics have let me down though, since our gearing is not meant for 33" tires. 4:88 gears or 5:29 is they way to go. Just from my experience.

I don't think I ever said 4x4 isn't good for snow. Just that I would pass some of them in my Accord because I knew how to drive in it.

CA consists of more than just the Central Valley, btw. I grew up in the Sierras. We have spots where you have to dig yourself out of a 2nd story window.

That could just be overthinking how much of an effect it actually has, or it could be the same idea as with my CAI. It's "technically" more efficient, so that SHOULD mean higher MPGs. But then you remember that it's fun to push the loud button and go fast, lol. And there goes all your efficiency.

Seemed like you were trying to argue as to why anyone who didnt offroad would buy a 4wd vehicle and I was just explaining as to why.

Yep, my grandparents live in San Jose and have a cabin in Lake Tahoe. Well aware ;) Just saying as someone who grew up in the midwest and lived in NE most people buy 4wd / Awd and not because they go off roading.

Yeah, gearing is going to be your biggest effect here... tires; that's only a few pounds, and relative to a 4000+ pound truck, that's nothing.

I will add, my wildpeaks are pretty awesome in the snow, mud and sand. Kills it on the beaches. Even pull out a 1990 suburban. IMG_20191215_143847_714.jpg

Finally someone who understands. I too was in this category since going 33s and was trying to save mpg and physics didn't help. Still lost plenty of mpg going 33s c rated.

I was being facetious about it, yeah.

But if you don't go offroad, but need 4x4 for the snow, plenty of cars (Subis) might work better, especially if you're worried about MPGs.

Living in Sacramento, (no snow), most people who buy 4x4 trucks don't go offroad either, lol

I refuse to get anything with a cvt, which subaru uses in alot of models. Subaru reliability is suspect too.

    Ah gotcha.

But then your forgeting about the use of the bed my dude. Before I started school full time, had my bikes in the back of the bed every weekend, hauled tools, dirt, junk, furniture, etc, can't do that in a WRX.

dude, my dude, I know. I do the same. Just saying that most of the trucks I see around town, or anywhere really, aren't being utilized like that. You can tell by the shiny paint in the bed or all the shiny "broverlander" gear in the bed that's never used.

I had an Accord most of the way through college, it hauled bikes too. Didn't care much for hauling rock tho. Then I get a truck and all of a sudden I'm everyone's best friend and oh by the way can you help me move? :frusty:
