I love smokey scotch. Lagavulin 16 year is actually one of my favorites. I also like the show “Parks and Recreation”. Recently found this bottle and had to buy it :)

Yes. But that’s just one post. We need a running list of wants. I don’t want to buy something that no one wants...

I actually haven’t tried it yet, sorry. I spent about $125 on the bottle, so saving it for a special occasion or something. Will update once I try it though.

Seems kind of gimmicky, but it's a gimmick I could get behind. Ron Swanson was my favorite character on that show, so if nothing else I could drink it and stroke my beard.

So we can do the group buy. We need to get at least 24 glasses in order for us to get a decent price on the glasses. Let me know what you all think.

Nice! I got a bottle myself, but haven't opened it, either. I have a couple of buddies that also like Lagavulin and Ron Swanson, so my plan is to visit them and open it up. It ought to be fun.

I played this video on my TV during a whiskey tasting I hosted one night. I'm definitely playing it again when the Offerman Lagavulin comes out.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPY_EuvimH0

I think he's saying that it would lead to the situation where one person goes in to a store and clears the shelf of harder-to-find bottles without other people getting the chance to buy (like the few anecdotes shared in the quoted posts).

It's definitely gimmicky, but so is the Game of Thrones bottles and a number of them seem to review pretty positively (the Lagavulin included). I'm hoping it's a good scotch with a $20 upcharge for the name/gimmick. I can live with that. I wouldn't pay for the gimmick often, but I always appreciate a bottle that has a fun story.

Other peoples lack of planning is not my concern. You think every person out there sees a great deal and a good inventory and says ‘gee, I should leave some for everyone’. Doubt it.
And I’m only interested in buying the quantity I know is needed, not shelf-clearing.

Eagle Rare is not rare in these parts. I'd be willing to work out trades (negotiated via PM). I'm on the hunt for a bottle of Weller 12 if anyone spies a bottle for a reasonable cost. Aside from ER let me know what you (anyone) is looking for.

A few things I could part with... The Weller SR is the 1.75 liter.

5 liquor stores within 15 minutes of my house here in Central North Carolina.
Every one always has at least 10-15 bottles of Eagle Rare on the shelf.
Never seen a bottle of Weller. Buffalo Trace, maybe once a quarter for about 5 minutes.
