We all still waiting. I like the 87 performance tunes the best so far. I ran 93 for years and it's sweet and all, it's just hard to find 91+ in the mountains.

    Morning John! :hattip:

Thanks man! I'm happy with how it came out so far. New LCAs is a great idea and I will probably get some in da future.

    Morning Matt! :hattip:

    Morning Josh!! :hattip:

    Morning
Isnt the 2.0 thats coming supposed to adjusting to octane? I'm pretty sure I read that but dont follow very closely since I dont have the tune... yet. I need a laptop which I may finally purchase soon. I finally bought the hypertech calibrator yesterday, found it used and saved $70-80 so I figure its time to purchase a laptop and maybe the tune.

Initially there was lots of mention of an "OLE" or "Octane Learning Edition". I am guessing it will still be offered. Hopefully we will see 2.0 drop real soon, like this week or so.

Thats a great deal on teh hypertech! i paid retail for it... but its been nice to have the stats be more accurate.

If you look at the bottom of the ovtun 1.05 thread, there are some cheap laptops folks used for tuning only that folks have had success with

Yeah finding a cheap laptop would work. Every time I look at them I start with the thought I just need a low cost laptop and fall into a rabbit hole. My thoughts then go to well if I'm buying one I should get one that can do anything and everything I "might" want(requiring a lot more power even though I dont use my computers like I used to) which leaves me looking at laptops that cost 1k+... Then I remember my desktop is getting fairly old and could use a refresh which ends up with me looking at 2k+ in new parts ie MB, CPU, Ra, GPU, cooling blocks to hook up to my cooling system. It never ends for me.
I've been looking at laptops every few months for the past year or 2. Started looking around again last week and ended up in the 800-1300 range. Then a deal I found that I was thinking about ended so the search continues.

Hahahaha, this is definitely the rabbit hole!

I scored a laptop from a friend some years ago and I only use it for flashing. It's quite low powered but still works good enough for flashing.

My opinion is to update your pc and get a cheapo laptop. I once had a powerful laptop and desktop at the same time and realized I only used one, the PC desktop. Felt like a big waste so I sold off that laptop. I still got the PC that is my main computer and that low powered Dell for flashing

Thats usually where I end up in thought. Really I just need the laptop to flash and would also use it to view pics off camera memory cards. I've been trying to get more into photography for a few years but have gotten no where. Probably would help if I actually used the camera more than a few times a year. Laptop doesnt need to edit just view the pics and transfer to an external HDD.

External drive for long term storage is a great portion of your plan! You are right, you dont need too much power to view or even edit pics these days.

If i see a deal on a cheap laptop, ill share :)

I already have multiple external hard drives so I'm set on that. I'm getting to the point of just buying the tune to force myself to spend the money on a laptop to serve my needs so I can install the tune. I actually saw someone selling the handheld for 400 yesterday on here and thought about just buying that for a sec but for some reason prefer the ideal of using a laptop.

*Edit: Tune has been ordered.:D
