What I don’t get about the manual is why the throttle/power/torque feels different in different situations.

like if I gun-it from first to second hitting the redline both times, it feels powerless. But, if I am rolling in second and then push the gas pedal down half-way, it feels like their is actually 278hp (or more with ovtune) with a nice surge of power without even teaching the VVTI surge at 3500rpm.

that’s just one example, and seeing the flow chart makes me believe that this isn’t in my head.

I can tell you 92 FOB and 4.88 is NOT a MPG champ.

I actually thought a single Tacobox (2:1) from Marlincrawler would be a good compromise if you weren't running huge tires. Yeah, you have to fuck with both the front and rear driveshaft lengths, but in the end you've got stock gearing if you want it, or 2:1 reduction across the board if you want it. Since it's installed between the tranny and T-Case, it doesn't matter what mode you select (2H, 4H or 4 low).

Edit: oops, the low range gear ratio in the Tacobox seems to be 4.7:1!!

First of all most of you guys know I did this in December. I put lockers in front and rear and gears were 1000% worth it. Just the torque to ground is worth it IMHO. 1-2-3-4 up a nice steep hill. I have an RPM website link at home will post later. But 75Mph isn't crazy.

That is a killer ratio and a good idea, but a lot more invasive than I would want for a DD. I would almost want a manual T case to go with that. :D

If the Taco was a toy, I'd be all in, but it's gonna be at least 10yrs and a move to someplace closer to play grounds before I could go down that route.

In the end, the 2LM solves 95% of my needs.

No. Again because lockers had them all apart.

Oh okay. I saw on their website that you can buy kits from ECGS that have lockers.

I want to add this is not because of some mechanical deficiency. No not that. More like the large nut behind the wheel enjoying simple reaction to skinny pedal input. Acceleration feels good....watch that MPG meter!
