Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give that a shot if the SAE bolts don't work out.

Yeah those wont work. You'll cause yourself more grief in the long run. 11mm is smaller than 1/2 though so im not sure why you're having a problem. I would say they are 12mm-1.25 pitch, but thats still smaller than 1/2

Nope. If you drug her by her foot she'd fill up with dirt.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. The ones I'm having issue with are these:

    https://www.oempartsource.com/oem-parts/toyota-tacoma-truck-bed-d-rings-1-pair-pt27835054

The bolt widens above the thread to ~9/16". I can grab a picture when I'm home, but this is a sketch of what the bolt looks like
    IMG_20200130_100952.jpg

Edit: although now that I look at the product page I may be able to just pull the clip/ nut from under the bed if that's actually how it's configured

It's a shoulder bolt. The shoulder allows the d ring to be able to rotate. Measure the shoulder diameter and drill the hole slightly larger and you'll be good to go. But, if you're using the d ring still it wont be able to rotate anymore unless you find a bolt with a longer shoulder.
