These Diono seats are the best design for the Taco, you can actually fit 3 of these across the back, they have a narrower/lower design and have a metal frame. They are very expensive though

    I do this.

I also sometimes put a booster in the front seat now that my son is older. It’s not ideal, but I believe that is legal.

I have 4 year old (almost 5) a two year old, and a 1 one year old.

I take them around in my truck all the time. I do use the lap belt for the rear facing seat, it’s safe.

TRD Exhaust, Mobtown bolt on sliders and aluminum tailgate reinforcement, Reverse lights changed to yellow turn signals, LED pods added for reverse, ADD W1 oil catch can, Total Chaos bed reinforcement, rear diff breather to taillight mod, 12" combo led bars behind lower grill wired to high beams, Toyota led bed light kit, 400 watt anytime mod, SSO slimeline front bumper.
I use one of these behind the passenger and a rear facing infant in the middle. Plan on buying a second dino for the middle when the younger gets old enough.

What model do you have? I thought the same with our 4 in 1 but after taking it apart I saw that the rear facing latch 'slides' back and one end goes in the seat and has to be snaked through

True, they are expensive but it's a child's safety we are talking about. Also, since the seat lasts from 9 to 120 pounds it might be the only carseat you might need as opposed to having to buy multiple as they outgrow them.

I've got an Access Cab, and I fit a booster seat, and a rear facing seat in my truck.

no its not the family hauler on the weekends, that's what the Subie Outback is for, but I can take my kids with me whenever I want ( just without my wife, or she's gotta sit in the back :D, Which she'll do depending on the suitation / duration. More on that below)

I've got a booster in the back behind me that's where the 5yr old sits, and the rear facing Diono seat for my 2 yr old in the front passenger with the Airbag turned off. Is that the safest place for a child to be? probally not, but the seat won't fit in the back of the access cab facing the rear, so until he's big enough to face forward then its the safest place he can be in MY TRUCK, right NOW. Sure a Doubble Cab would be better, but that thinking, I might as well not have a truck. This is the truck I have, and its what I have to work with. As mentioned by others. its not forever, Kids grow.

that's my opinion. yours may vary. it works well for us.

    D2.

PS: the front passenger seat on the Access Cab has child anchor points in it. Take that for what its worth.

Thanks! I’ll see what I can get away with. I have a few ideas...push cart / stroller creation being one of them.
