So my tire pressure light is coming on. I already checked all of the wheels and they’re good on psi, then I tried resetting the light with the button by holding the button down until it started blinking again but it never happened, it just stayed solid, what can I do? 2009 Taco

Button is not a reset - just sets a new default. Take it to a shop and have them check the sensors.

Did you check the spare tire PSI?

If the light flashes then goes solid you have a bad sensor or some form of fault with the tpms system and not a pressure problem

Mine was staying lit also, with new tires. Ended up being the 07 original spare doesn’t want to hold pressure

If the spare is low it will set off the sensors in some models. I think 2009 is one of them. My 2007 will.

Oh snap, never would have thought about that. Any idea if it's the same with a 2011? I just bought my truck, and the TPMS light was on when I bought it. When I try to reset mine, it never goes solid when in acc, just flashes endlessly. The button does nothing. I'm assuming a sensor is busted or possibly they aren't even installed. Never thought to check the spare though.

Did you buy from a dealership? It’s supposedly against the law for them to sale a vehicle with the tpms malfunctioning just as it’s illegal to remove them. Take it back if you did and make them fix it.

I did, never thought about that. Honestly, I don't care, every damn vehicle I've had the TPMS is busted on. But, maybe I can make them pay for the repair or get some money back haha. The sales guy tried to give me some line about "oh well it's cold out and that effects tire pressure" etc.. yeah sure bud... this dealer sells stupid expensive lincolns and mercedes, I would like to hear him use that line on something that has 10 miles on it.

Edit: The dealer is about 2 hours away from me, so I don't really feel like making that trip again. I had to miss half a day of work already this week to pick it up.

A dealership isn’t going to do anything unless he bought it last week and he would have to prove it was on when he got it total waste of time. Buy yourself some new sensors over the next little but get all 5 and when you get your next set of tires have them installed and coded for your truck and you will be good to go. That out take that little blinking bastard out. I have the same problem and I would rather fix it but those stupid little sensors are kind of expensive.

Nice. I’m reading the link on disabling the system but I’m not sure I like that plan. More study is needed.

Yeah I looked at it quick, I'm not going through that much work to turn a light off. I wonder if it can just be re-coded to kill it. I'm sure someone would have posted that info if it was possible though. I've always re-coded my VWs to kill lights and seatbelt dingers. I actually wear my seatbelt these days, so I'm not so worried about that one anymore.

For the price of one sensor (more or less, depending on the type you pick) you can find an aftermarket TPMS system that gives you more info than the oem light.

2009 has only 4 none in the spare.
Watch light at startup and if it blinks for awhile then goes out one or more of the sensors is bad as batteries last 7-10 years and cannot be replaced.
Remember if you buy them online a dealer or tire store will have to put it or them in removing the tire to screw in then scan the ECU to take old ones out and new ones in - there will be charges so check cost. Discount sold and put 4 new ones in and reprogrammed for $60 each with 7 year warranty = $240. set of 4 on my 2009. Got tires too so all covered.
You can fix them or ignore the light, your choice.

The sales guy is right... in the winter on my 07 the tires heat up when driven but the spare stays cold... if it's cold enough outside the temperature difference in the spare sets off the light... best to keep the spare a few psi's over the rest of the tires to keep it from happening. The &$@&*#!! sensors are a cash cow for the tire places and dealerships... once the batteries go just use a $5 pressure gauge once in a while... problem solved.

I've got an '09 with 228,000+ miles and the light just came on too. Figured it's the sensor batteries. All PSI's good, including spare. I pulled the dash cluster and taped over the LED cause I can't stand the light. Didn't want to disable the system. Next time I buy tires, I'll get new sensors all around and remove the tape. Won't have it done at the dealership tho; they quoted close to a grand to do it.
