Which wheel model did you get? I'm trying to figure out if this is just one of the models or all RRW wheels. Thanks.

Yea good call, Im wondering if it is model specific. I have the RR2-S. They have a -12 offset.

So it's an issue with multiple models then. This is very concerning to me. I ordered the forged RR2-F model, I'd guess there's a good chance I'll deal with this too. Not happy about that given the $ I spent.

Thanks guys for the heads up on this. I'm contacting RRW directly about this issue, as my wheels are still in production with a March/April delivery. I know getting extended wheel studs isn't the end of the world but they really shouldn't be necessary for wheels marketed as direct fits for our trucks.

Gotta say, I'm psyched with the wheels. Finally got them installed tonight.

I'm perturbed I spend $50+ on the RRW lugnuts that barely even thread on. I think we all assumed that they were specifically matched for these wheels.

I feel much better about these Gorillas. I would highly recommend giving these a shot before tackling extended lugs.

We didn't use extended studs to run our wheels with our rigs. Used it on My Tacoma for years & the rigs at our shop (3 GX470, 1 4Runner, 1 Raptor) We ran them hard over the years and have no issues with it.

My coworker has these and I tried one on my new RRW wheels, the lug nut holes, or stud holes, whatever you want to call them, are about .03 to .01 too small to fit the ET lug nut. I also noted that between my 5 new wheels theres .02 difference in the lug nut holes, so it may be possible that all of your wheels could have a lug nut hole that’s big enough to accommodate the ET lug nuts.

Ray - how many turns are you guys getting when you put these wheels on? Some folks on here saying they're getting only 5 turns, that's not nearly enough. I realize you all may not have had issues yet on your vehicles but honestly that doesn't make me feel any better.

As I learn more about this I'm realizing this is the same issue people have been having with the Venomrex VR-602 wheels, which I intentionally avoided because of concerns like this.

Are you positive he had the same nuts? Gorilla has several ET style nuts available if I'm not mistaken. I measured one of my lug holes with a caliper and got ~0.65 I think. Granted I didn't measure all 24 bores to see if there was any variance. Saw the diameter of the ET portion of these 21134ETBC was .62 and quickly ordered them. I was able to install all 24 with no resistance of the nut rubbing against the bore. Got so much more thread engagement with these.

So it sounds like the main issue is that the lug nuts that RRW sells are not extended thread (ET), which is why they’re not getting the necessary bite on their wheels. I know most aftermarket wheels recommend ET lug nuts (SCS and others). So seems the solution to this would be using ET lug nuts like you did. It’s just unclear to me if ET lug nuts truly fit RRW wheels. It seems like it worked for you but Ray seemed surprised that ET lugs would work, and he knows these wheels more than anyone. That makes things still a bit hazy for me at this point.

Yea he has the gorilla nuts for his SCS wheels, the lug nut holes on my RRW’s are much smaller than yours, averaging around .590, first I measured with a caliper, then with some gage pins(I’m a machinist, so I have access to that stuff). If all the RRW wheels were like yours, then there wouldn’t be any issues running ET lug nuts.

Definitely let us know what your outcome is! I ordered the smallest outside diameter lug nuts I could find on Amazon, which I’m hoping will allow the nut to sit lower in the lug nut hole/cone, they are just an acorn type nut. I’ll post some details after I get them, which should be later today.

If you have access to a caliper I would recommend checking your lug bores to see if they are greater than .62.

image.jpg I got some lug nuts today and I have the same results as I did a few days ago, the nut is a acorn nut, just like RRW recommends. I don’t have a super precise caliper at my house, but it’s good for up to .001. Here’s a picture of I.D. of the lug whole on the wheel(RR2-S) For those that don’t know how to read a caliper, the measurement is just under .590, probably.589. No where near close enough to fit an ET lug nut which measure .620 Although some have had luck, so I don’t know what to say. I emailed RRW and they told me to try the ET nuts, which I take as they have no idea what to say either.
I think I’ll try and search for an ET nut that will actually fit in there, but I doubt I’ll be able to find one, because that wall would be extremely thin. In the mean time, anyone in the Denver area looking to buy 5 new wheels?

I picked up some gorilla et lug nuts from ORW. They worked for me. Sorry to hear they are not working for some of you.
