As far as suspension .. don't over think it.. look at your numbers and where you need to be.. I'd start with the cheapest solution ( shock and coils) I have ome 887s on ome shocks.. and extended billies in the rear.. ( I have an aluminum front bumper) there are way to many options and senerios that will get you confused and upside-down. IMHO I'd put on @SearArtist shocks and coils and then tweak it in need be from there

I couldn't agree more. Suspension is like a new pair of shoes, eventually it will wear out and need to be replaced. They will satisfy you for about 6 to 10 years before the bumps get harder and the knocks get stiffer, then you'll be looking to replace. Get what you want now @klavender1 , and don't skimp on quality. Suspension that lacks in quality will need to be replaced sooner. I've had my OME suspension set up installed since 2013, bought it and installed it just after I PCS'd to Texas. Loved it, still love it to this day however I don't love it as much as I did when I bought it. I'm getting older, my back is getting stiffer and the OME suspension is showing it's age. Yes, I could replace the bushings and rebuild the struts and be back in business but now the great eye of Sauron has cast his eye over to Icon vehicle dynamics with remote reservoirs and tuneable shocks. So just like shoes come and go, your suspension will come and need to be replaced down the line. I believe that OME is a nice entry level suspension set up for 70/30 pavement/dirt. It's not quite set up to be a rock crawler but it is tuned to give you a stiffer ride on pavement and a smoother ride (when aired down) on the trails. I've loaded my bed down with at least 1 full yard of pea gravel and I didn't have barely any squat in my heavy Dakar's, but man did it feel good with weight in the bed. Unloaded, it's very stiff and the rebounds are poppy. Stiff enough that I pulled the sway bar and tried the moose test at 45mph. Yes, the body rolled but it didn't seem to be more than normal. So remove at your own risk.

you just have to be patient and look for a good deal. I will be selling my Icons in the next couple months. They need to be rebuilt but already have new lower bearings. I’d probably ask $400 then you just need to have them rebuilt. I’m replacing them with remote resi icons. They are extended travel with 650lb coils

    But I overthink everything! :D
I'm planning on getting @SearArtist coils and shocks right now. Run the 886s on the 5100s and see how it feels. Then if needed, get OME rear shocks.

On a side now, what should I sell my original TRDOR supsension (front coils and 4 shocks) with 60k miles for? That should recoup some money.

Would not buy Icons. They are junk compared to King/ADS/Fox. I don’t see why people still buy that crap. If you are doing more than just taking pics for IG, call Accutune and get a set of Kings, they will get them damn near 99% custom tuned to your setup.

I didn't say I bought them, I didn't say I was sold on them but merely looking at them. There's a lot of options, much like @klavender1 is going through right now.

What kind of lift do you think I'll see out of the 886s with an access cab with 130lbs?
    Will I need UCAs?

How much armor u got? I’ve got an arb with 8k warn winch steel cable, high clearance rear bumper...etc and With my current set up: 886 with nitro sport shocks and SPC UCA my lift is enough to blow out 2 sets of cv boots in 2 years, not to mention one of the worst rides I’ve ever seen on a Tacoma. The 2008 dcsb that i just sold had 885s with an arb bumper. Perfect height and ride. Changing out my 886 for 885 soon, also ditching the Dakar’s for another leaf pack.

Upgrade the UCAs now to avoid crying later. I’ve had my lift for ~2 years now and dreaded not having them for that long. I just got some JBAs and hopefully they’re going on in the next couple of weeks.

I'll have some Icon Delta joint UCAs for sale need new joints I'll sell them for 350. The new joints are $262. That puts you $200 below retail.

Basically, the UCA's will allow your alignment to get back into spec. They typically allow for another +-2* of adjustment, so if your alignment people cant get you back to close to factory spec, then you'll need UCA's.

With bigger tires you want as positive as poss even if it's out of spec. All but the SPC and JBA have 2* of built in caster.

How are you blowing out CVs with only about 2" of lift? Are the nitro sport shock different than the 90000?
I don't plan on UCAs right now. Without the armor I was at 1.75" of lift and had no problem with alignment.

Thinking about getting a hi lift today.. I was looking at Amazon the 48" hilift has 7 k rating
At tractor supply the "48"bulldog" has a rating of 8k.. does it really matter ..one better than the other besides the 1k difference?

I am pretty sure with 886 they recommend the 90000

No clue but the angles are pretty intense compared to my dcsb with 885s and same bumpers.

I think the only thing that matters is get a 60", rather than a 48". I have stretched out a 60", where the 48" would have been useless. unless you are certain a 48 will fit your needs :notsure: and all of them end up useless unless you keep them exercised and lubed routinely if stored out in the elements.

its horrible to have to admit to yourself that you wished you had a few more inches.......rather have a few more inches and not need them, than not have them and wish you did.
