Pictures of your Non TRD Pro with TRD Pro mods?

I guess how does quality compare between the two, and can you tell the difference between that and a dipped one? I guess I could just dip the black one as well, or order all black badges, but I really wasn't looking to replace the perfectly good ones.

Well, all the badging I have pictured on my tailgate was ordered black from the jump. I removed the chrome Tacoma badging from the door entirely. My hoodscoop is plasti dipped but no badging, so I’m not sure how they’d looked compared to each other

 

I figured they were something pretty unusual like that. Very unique, clean look. Forged too!

 

Finally added the Pro taillights tonight! The only pro mods that I haven’t done are the leaf springs, swaybar and badges (which I have no plans on changing). Otherwise Pro-mod complete!
Note: I started with a fully optioned 2018 OR so I already have leather, sunroof, jbl etc.

Always thought this gen taco looked a little awkward lifted. But to each their own. Couldnt fit it in the garage even if I wanted to lift it anyway. And parking it inside is more important to me than raising my center of gravity for a couple inches of ground clearance.

 

Pretty certain the leafs between the OR and Pro are physically identical. They might have different part numbers (I know toyota will have different part numbers for different countries and update part numbers for the same parts as new model years come out) but one isn’t superior to the other. I remember chatting with some of the techs at my dealership when I was getting my alignment done after throwing the foxes on and they said the same thing. Sway bar however, I do think is a few mm larger in diameter, which I can’t really see it being any what noticeable behind the wheel. Hell if off roaded more than I do I’d consider getting rid of it all together lol

I feel like it depends on the build. I’ve seen some rigs that have been done very well and look great lifted with a wider stance, and others lifted with much larger diameter wheels and to me it looks goofy. It’s all subjective. I’m pretty pleased with the stock pro height with a slight tire bump out. I WISH I had a garage right now solely for the purpose of backing in so I can get a RTT and rig up a pulley system so I can mount and unmount it by myself. When I start house shopping next year, a garage is a must for me.

 

To be adamantly opposed to the concept of this thread—TRD Pro parts on non-TRD Pro trims, you sure do seem to enjoy posting here with particularly dissenting opinions. I guess that’s just your thing, huh?

this is a screen print from my Toyota dealers parts guys computer (for the 2018 pro springs). It states firm ride whereas the 2018 OR leafs do not.

 

After an extensive amount of searching, I'm inclined to believe you. The photo you posted didn't really give any context, but after looking at multiple part websites, the pro leafs do have their own part numbers. A few older toyota press release's even stated the pros have "progressive-rate off-road leaf springs" whatever the hell that means in marketing terms. I wish I could actually find a data/spec sheet and compare the numbers for each pack, just solely because it's bugging me now and I want to know what the actual specific differences are if any at all.

For me, I’m not really too concerned with that aspect of my pro-mods, even though my goal was to make a full blown longbed clone, but it’s also my daily driver ... I don’t really do much off roading (mostly the occasional fire road and dirt trail). I am curious what you find out though.

 

Same. For me it's more or less an information OCD thing at this point lol. Generally speaking, I'm assuming when they refer progressive they mean the leaf springs get stiffer as they compress farther/faster whereas non-progressive would compress uniformly regardless of rate. That would lead me to believe they'll have a stiffer ride at speed comparatively, which I honestly don't think I'd want... Not from a stock leaf pack at least.

I reached out to Toyota corporate with a brief email asking the differences. We'll see if they give me any real info or tell me to kick rocks with a generic marketing answer.
