There is software to manage the tunes on the handheld. You can add new tunes when they become available.

Don’t forget the handhelds are built and “programmed” by a third party which is 100% out of Mat’s control

Yeah but that’s the firmware / software of the handheld itself. My understanding is the tune files are similar to now like the dongle /dongleless files and can be added or removed. It’s just a different file type from pcm/p5f

Appreciate the quick replies and information. I’ve been wanting to buy for a while, this handheld seems like the most user friendly option and the discount is nice for us using Canadian pesos.

This is how fake news happens and others start getting wrong information and passing it off.

Is it true that you will get better performance out of the tunes if you update from 04B03 to 04B04 and then re-flash the tune? If so, do I need to flash back to stock before I update to 04B04? Can this be done at home or do I need to take it to the dealer? If this has already been answered, I apologize. This thread is long.

That is what I thought. I am seeing posts saying to download Techstream. If I do that, can I use the same cable that came with the OVtune? Trying to get a step by step instruction on how to make this TSB update myself.

Yes. However in tech stream when connecting to truck you have to change the cable setting to the tactrix rather than vim

Yes but people don’t seem to get that mat has no control over the production of the handhelds including any software updates from the manufacturer

They both are. One is for 2016-'17 and the other for '18, automatic transmission.
