What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Red pads do you ever get them hot enough to perform for their full potential?

 

i ran greens
Then when those were done i switched to yellow but quickly found out they need to stay hotter to perform better
even with my crazy turning/cornering seemed like green were a better fit

i run same brakes on wifes rav4

 

I believe there are 2 different greens for our truck.
The 6000 series is more aggressive, more heat tho, so better have upgraded rotors

 

If you have stock type pads your truck will take longer to stop and your rotors will last a long time

EBC rotors are a bit pricey so hopefully they are much better made and higher quality steel than the power stops.

 

Yes thats what i ran, noticeable improvement over stock when paired with ebc rotors

My StopTech "Sport Slotted" rotors still look brand new (with EBC Green 7000 pads) since I did the Tundra brake upgrade a few years and 23,760 miles ago. Bigger brakes work very well - especially when you have a slightly overweight double cab.

 

Yup. And normal, blank rotors.

 

You like that well performing, long lasting, OEM quality and BOOOOORING type stuff, huh? Me too

 

And now there’s even bigger brakes to be had... 13wa calipers with 3mm shaved off the mounting ears

 

If I were like @turbodb or @m3bassman with bumpers and a bunch of weight, I'd consider it. For my stock truck with just a camper and 32's the regular 13WL seems great for me

 

The sucky part is having to run 17” wheels.

Same. I ran Akebono on my A4 and currently have them on my wife's Tiguan.

 

I don't see what the problem is ... 17's are great with 255/75's.

17" has more tire size options than 16", no?

Plus 285/75r17 is the prefect size for a 1st gen.

Second that, after trying to run 16s on previous trucks it's so much easier to just do a 17 because of the amount of tires available and the different sizes you can find. Especially narrow ones.
