Hahaha..It's the only place where I go where they offer valet parking.

I have also used it when getting my tires rotated or at the carwash.

The bent latch prevents the button from being pressed inward. It's a pretty simple design once you look at it.

Yeah I got the same lock as in the 1st picture. except now it's First Lock instead of Hickory. Cost me $4.75 at Lowes. didn't take any pics but looks the same as the others. I will try tomorrow.

This may work for the glove box but haven't checked it out.

The net came with the truck. I have heard some got it and others didn't with their Tacoma's. I would keep your eyes open on here for one that is for sale.

No problem...I have used this lock quite a bit over the last few weeks.

Just had an alignment done today and put all of my personal and valuables in the center console and locked it up! I know it won't prevent a thief looking to break into my truck and steal things but in cases like this it works perfect!

Awesome! Just did the console lock mod with your exact same 1/2" lock now made by First Watch. Thank you for this! Here are a few pics to add into yours:

I used a marker, a drill, and those Dremel bits (one to widen, one to smooth, and one to widen even more)

From the inside looking out driver's side. Latch is "unlocked" but it turns upwards over that "box" to stop the console button from being pressed in.

Great mod, and I am going to do it this week. Perfect for the valet or hotel parking deal. I know we are not trying to create a "fort knox console" with this mod, but I had a idea to increase the security of the latch. For those who have done this mod, what if you put a "stubby round head screw" into the latch of the lid. Then, drill a hole into the bent latch, so that when you go into the lock position, the screw head will fit or fill into the drilled hole, and if someone were to try to force the console open by pushing the button and lifting while in the locked mode, the screw head should go futher into the drilled hole of the latch to futher inhance the lock of the console. What do you think?

Ok, so i had to try this! Just hate to leave my loose change for someone to steal! I picked up a slightly different lock set from Lowes and waited for the right time.

Had to bend it just a bit:

It was a little hard to lock but I gave it a slight bend. Now it has a slight snap when it is straight up. The only thing I'm not sure I like is you have to lock it to remove the key! Still, a very nice $5 mod! Props to the OP!

Hmmm...that's odd. Mine doesn't have to be locked to pull the key out.

Did you paint the lock with plasti dip? It looks chrome in the pics.

Thats because he got a mailbox lock. the only way to remove the key is to lock it that way people don't forget to lock their mailboxes because the only way to take out the key is for it to be locked.
