Curious if anyone has ever seen anything like this and may know what caused it?

I was driving around town recently and was experiencing a rather loud clunking noise and got out to find that the bearing cap had popped out and shot oil all over my wheel well. Theyre at the height they come from the factory set at, haven't adjusted them at all and the drivers side is fine.

Luckily I had my old 5100's to swap in for the time being. I'm still waiting for fox to respond to my email regarding warranty as I just bought these in September, I searched around and didn't find anyone with a similar issue.20200121_163034.jpg 20200121_163036.jpg 20200121_163042.jpg

Lots of the big name shock companies have really skimped in quality over the years. Not all, but lots. Just my opinion of course

Also could just be a one off, maybe a bad seal.

OR maybe you've abused them previously and they finally gave out

Unfortunately I never got an opportunity to take them offroad and abuse them before the bearing cap gave out ‍♂️

Would love to hear insights here. I’m debating on getting fox 2.0 or the fox trd shocks.

Lol appreciate the bump guys. I ended up sending it back to fox today, won't hear back for a while I'm sure. I'm just wondering what would have caused it to happen in the first place.

I know there's a snap ring underneath the bearing cap that should stop the valve stack/piston from pushing the bearing cap out but maybe it failed? Not really sure on this one.

    Stuff and junk and things...
The black wiper cap is just a slight press fit into the body and they sometimes come out. Not a big deal and you can tap them back in with a mallet usually. But your obviously leaking oil and in need of service so tapping that cap back in won't fix the leak.
