295/75r16 & 295/70r17 PHOTO THREAD.

A little late for a response, sorry. I imagine it would fit fine. My tire is ~34”. 285s are smaller ~33”. I think this might all hinge on the fact that I have a chopped muffler. I have no idea if the middle takes up space a bigger tire needs or not.

 

Too much caster does a few things. In general it makes the vehicle more stable, so it holds its line well at high speeds. For the same reasons it also makes it harder to turn, requiring more driver input to turn the vehicle, which isn’t good for winding roads.

for tire clearance reasons, it puts the wheel further back in the well, making it rub more on the fender and cab mount area.

IMO, 3 degrees is a good balanced caster number for our trucks with ~2” lift and 33-34” tires.

 

What wheel are y'all running for your spare if it isn't the same as your normal wheels? Was hoping to find a 16 x 8 steely that would fit over the calipers but it's proving to be difficult. Also, getting my 295s mounted on F5s tomorrow. Will post pics.

 

I’m using my oem spare wheel in the stock location. It won’t clear the front UCA’s but if ever needed I would run it on the rear.

 

Ah that’s a good call. Surprised you found someone to mount that size of tire on a 7in wheel. I figured no one would so I’ve been shopping around for an 8in.

 

295’s are fine on a 7in, although the minimum but still fine. It was all done at discount tire.

 

I put a fifth 295 onto a ray 10 to match the rest. I’ve given thought to running a 255/80/17 Toyo mt - which is 33.5” tall - on the stock steely as another option. It would fit in the stock spare location under the bed much better too.

No rubbing? That front tire looks damn close to the flares. My -25mm offset f5s and 295s rubbed all to hell, even in town. I mean I even had to trim my actual fender to fit these. The 0 offset really makes that much difference?

Yes! I removed and cut my front fender flares this past weekend. Next on the list is cutting the fenders. I already have a super-aggressive CMC and firewall/pinch weld hammer so I should be good there.

 

295/75 16s, no rubbing anywhere. The right alignment specs will do that

 

Well, what are the right alignment specs?

 

Whatever works with your set up. All Tacomas have suttle differences. I literally have no rubbing whatsoever and I tried once I aligned it and put those on.
