Unless something has recently changed I purchased mine in Washington and drove it back to California and didn't have to weigh it.

 

Don't forget to have it smog tested before you go in too.

 

I was not aware that you have a new Vehicle smoked in Cali always thought used once only.

 

Pretty sure it's to get the new truck into the system. Plus they want to discourage stuff thats not California CAFE and CARB approved like SC, CAI, etc. etc.

Also, why would they pass up a chance to make money off of something? At $40.00 a pop multiplied all the out of state car purchases can rack up pretty quick.

Thanks for all the useful information. Following the DMV links for out of state registration and smog comes upon this statement: "When you transfer a vehicle that is four or less model years old a smog certification is not required." I saw this and originally assumed I was off the hook (Tacomas are 50 state vehicles).

 

Special ordered my cement access cab from Poway Toyota, talk to Valeri Peel internet sales mgr. Haven't received my truck yet probably because of the Toyota manufacturing shutdown (corona virus) Tell her Dennis sent you. I contacted all the other dealerships in SD county, but they weren't interested, but poway said sure no problem .
