Hello... I may or may not have broken(?) a friend’s passenger side seatbelt. The light on the dash flashes continuously even though it’s buckled. (edit: light flashes but it doesn’t sound off like it normally would) Since I broke it, I want to fix it, if possible.

This is on a 2016 Toyota Tacoma. Can anyone help me figure out what the issue is and how to fix it? What do I check for, and where? How much will it cost to repair if it’s really broken?

Maybe some debris inside. Blow it out with some air. Inspect wires under the seat :notsure: haven't heard of buckles doing this so probably an isolated incident. Most people just complain about the beeping.

Haven't looked at my Taco, but had to replace a seat belt fastener on a Camry.

Try blowing some air down the opening to dislodge any obstacle. If no change, you most likely have to remove the seat to get access and then the fastener. Opposite the fastener end will be the wiring connection. Easy peasy. My Camry faster was 85 at dealer. Junkyard should be cheaper.

I should have probably mentioned that whatever went wrong was caused by the seatbelt getting yanked very hard. After that, the light just stayed on. So I'm assuming my best bet is removing the seat and looking at the wires? I'll have to look up how to even do that... I hope it's easy for someone who has never had to do anything like this before!

When I was a young warthog, I jammed a bunch of quarters in my dad's seat belt receptacle. Thing locked up permanently

Simple wrench job. If you aren't a wrench, find someone who will work for beer.

Possibly damaged the buckle or the belt. Can try to have it reset if someone has a good scanner.

The buckle is about $45 with a discount. The belt is over $200. #4 in the diagram is the buckle.

I work for beer. Import only though unless it's a craft beer.

Disconnect negative battery terminal , remove 4 hold down bolts , disconnect wire harness from bottom of seat and then lift out seat .

Most times craft beef is just somebody's home brew in mamma's basement. One taste and I wonder why did they bother? Can't wait for this fad phase to end.

It will never end! It's like how weed is legal here in california. Now everyone is growing weed. Soon it will be for sale at cosco in bulk.
