I have serious OCD using the "fix" constraint. It's too much to track so I just end up not trusting them individually. It's like walking on eggshells sorting all of that out.

My newest enemy is the plus icon at the top of Inventor toolbars. When that goes red it's a sign of "you done wrong!"

Then you start pumping ctrl+z watching all of your precious work go away until that resolves.

My Brother is working on printing me a custom knob and Ive been looking for a solution to holding the 3rd Gen AT boot in place with a "clean" look. This looks like it might solve it. I haven't seen any pics with 3rd Gen AT ones installed. Think it will work with something like this picture?

Welcome to TacomaWorld! Nice first post ;).
Just hang out in in this thread, and we'd have a retainer to hold the shift boot in place for a cleaner look.

Are you looking to attach the boot to the knob or leave some shaft showing(huehuehue)?

The AT cover as I have it now will not hold the boot in place, it is just a cover/cap for the chrome thing.

I do have some of these in stock, which could be bolted to the bottom of your knob if you want to modify it a little bit.

As far as the AT cap holding the boot in place.

The MT design works due to the vehicle shaft being tapered. There is an o-ring inside that will catch on the taper and stop downward travel. It still is able to float like the OEM 2nd Gen setup.

The AT shaft diameter is either 8mm or slightly above that, but is not tapered like the MT shaft. Best I could do for that is to add an o-ring to that to create a friction hold. BUT, I'd need some measurements from a few trucks to see if Toyota holds a decent enough tolerance for this to even work.

Put on the AT shift boot retainer today. Good fit that clips securely into place.

Thanks to @MidWestTRDPro I also have this in the works. This is a complete replacement for the OEM chrome. The final product will be black.

I should have my test piece pretty soon.

Definitely going to get more of these printed. I just got the OEM AT chrome boot retainer yesterday and was able to check fitment myself. I'm extremely happy with it.

Plasti dip bro! Or the above mentioned product from @7r41lbr34k3r but i personally don't mind the little bits of residual chrome so i elected not to remove the rest of the boot to get at it.

Funny how the MT SR collar isn't black like the AT.

Yours also looks a little different from the chrome version.

My SR manual knob twist lock features were slightly different from TRD knobs, but still mostly the same.
