That's because they opted for the optional "chin step"

Much hype from the manufacturers on safety and convenience...nearly $40 Grand for a truck...but shut the fu(k up about the piss poor control layout...don't be a baby...pay your money and piss off...

I solved my controls issue. I removed the steering wheel. Now nothing is blocked by it!

I agree, the 4WD control isn’t in the friendliest of spots.

Learn your equipment and move on. It’s not that hard to adapt to one simple control. If a person can’t develop the ability to work that control without looking, and work another control without hitting the 4WD, they shouldn’t be driving the truck. Or driving. Or even being responsible for anything involving basic memory and motor skills.

    #pussycultureinamerica2020 is running rampant.

Hahaha that’s hilarious, but so true. A buddy of mine had a couple of close calls... he finally got rid of that Ram when his lease was up and got himself a 2019 Taco.

The knobs are Braille friendly, the climate control has valleys, the 4WD is just knobby

The funny part is if you took literally .5 seconds to look you would never turn/push the wrong knob. I have never accidentally turned my 4wd knob mistaking it for AC. Open your damn eyes and stop bitching about every little thing. Maybe you should have gotten a Chevy Colorado, oh wait the 4wd knob is even worst you can’t see it unless you look over the side of the steering wheel.

The conclusion is clear for anyone to see.

There are no stupid design decisions in a Tacoma. None! Z.E.R.O. IS THAT CLEAR?!

If it's not, get a Chevy.

There is probably some weird ass logic why the knob is there. It could even be as weak as “aesthetic reasons”...it doesn’t matter. It’s manageable. Sorta like the volume button complaints on the steering wheel being oriented the wrong way...learn it, commit it to memory, or yeah, go buy a Chevy or produce your own vehicles, and even then I imagine THAT would be difficult for those having button difficulties
    :D

The volume control button issue.....there is a TSB out on that one.

    In fact there is a:
TSB on the Push to Start Button placement
TSB on the hazard button placement
TSB on the auto headlight button placement
TSB on the small radio knob problem
TSB on the lack of a coin holder
TSB on the missing seat height spacers
TSB on the missing console and glove box dividers
TSB on the lack of automatic asswipe activation button (this will go next to the 4WD button to prevent accidental activation)

But seriously the 4WD knob is in a dumb ass location....I mean it.
