Looking to buy good condition center section for 1st Gen Tacoma. Needs to be 8" 4.10 geared E-Locker. I'm located in Oklahoma. If no one out there has one, any help to direct me toward a good rebuilder local or online, that would be great. Looking to buy 2001 Tacoma 2WD TRD Pre-runner with a bad rear end (professionally diagnosed) and looking for options or if anyone has any knowledge of someone in the OKC, Tulsa / Oklahoma / North Texas area who has a rear end center section to buy. Also looking for someone out there in Tulsa / OKC area who is knowledgable about these rear ends and could possibly rebuild. Or if any of you have any general knowledge about these center sections - their flaws, strengths, or what you might do in my position, that would be great. Thanks for the help!

    Do you NEED the locker?

They're good lockers (I like mine) but I see a lot of people go to the ends of the earth to find one, and really, there are better options, like the ARB. Honestly, the lockers in the Prerunners are cool, but really not that useful. If you're offroading, an open diff 4x4 will get you to more places. It'll do righteous burnouts/donuts, though.

Marlin Crawler will get you a top notch 3rd member set up any way you want.

For daily driving, a limited slip might work better for you.

Don't plan on doing off roading at all - and I'm not set on having to have a E-locker. Just around town driving and hauling a mower and a few other things. So don't need a locker necessarily. But from what I've seen, the only 8" center section that is geared 4.10 that will fit a 2WD Prerunner with TRD package is the E-locker. If you are aware of any reasonably priced alternatives that are a swap in fit, I'd be interested in those options.

Wouldnt a prerunner take an 8.4?

Any axle will require modification to fit a locked 3rd member

Not if it’s a TRD with the e-locker, which is what he said he has.
