There are plenty of roof rack options for the double cab. However, holding an rtt? Idk if it could take the weight. @mechanicjon any experience here?

RTT would be to much weight. What kinda of camper shell do you have on it now?

I've seen some camper shells that can hold an RTT, not that I'd trust it tho.

I've seen some people do some custom bed rack system that a camper shell fits *over*, and the rack extend thru the shell to support the weight. That's a lot of work, though.

But honestly I think the roof is a really terrible place to put something as heavy as an RTT. Just too top heavy, IMO. With bed racks, you can sling the RTT lower, like level with the roof line or there abouts.

Wind resistance would surely be ridiculous with a RTT over the top of the cab like that. But it would definitely be out of the way and give you way more storage.... I just wouldn't want to drive it very far like that.

RTT will be fine on the cab. I have seen some move their tent over the cab from the camper shell because they like the handling better. Most people use Qtowers from Yakima or similar from other brands. A few brave souls I have seen direct mount something into the roof but that takes some guts.

Lol... this is my daily driver. Almost no noticible difference on milage and the top heavy thing is a myth. I bomb down the highway out of the mountains at the same speeds I did before the RTT.

The Smittybuilt RTT only weighs 115 lbs... not sure how it would be with a heavier tent.

Old Set-Up - Yakima Bars and Towers, no drilling, felt great up there. A rep at Yakima said the measurements were for dynamic weight. The weight of the RTT is fine while driving around. Static weight is much more than listed. MPG decreased slightly.

New Set-Up - Allpro bed rack. They don't make this height, it was a prototype supposedly. They currently only list the one that sits lower than the roofline. SOLID

Snugtop - I also have a snug top. I personally haven't mounted it on there but my friend did and it was fine. Same concept regarding static weight and dynamic weight measurements.
