Dasaita Head Unit for 2nd Gen Tacoma

I use Google Maps and Navigation, right on the head unit, works well for me, you can download off line maps too so if you don't have good cell coverage in an area you can still navigate.. I don't hook my phone to the unit I use a cell brick in my truck when I go anywhere anyway..

..... Yeah the Google maps expire every thirty days or so when downloaded. There's an app literally called navigation?

No, the navigation part of google maps... I go online do the trip with stops, save it and pick if from my list on the head unit..

Hey Theo, does that work with our units? This shows the factory head, and he says it's a 2014, I wonder how much different it is that like my 2012..

Yea, like I said I have a cell brick in the car, so mine is always connected, the only reason I need the off line maps is if I hit an area that does not have cell coverage... Back country stuff..

Yours would be closer to 2.8 Gen range when it comes to that head unit style and wiring I'm guessing. Our new head units might have the same set up in the back like those 2014 OEM touchscreens with intune. I just wanted to share the video because he brings up that https://www.anytimebackupcamera.com/ can make a harness for you. Not sure what all goes into it specifically. Just thought it might be helpful

 

On another note,
HAS ANYONE FIGURED OUT HOW TO TURN OFF THAT DAMN LOUD ASS BLUETOOTH PHONE RINGER? It's driving me up the freaking wall! Any help is appreciated by my ear holes....

 

I'm used to being around aircraft engines all the time, the wife though hates when the phone rings!

Soo... I think I figured it out (for Android at least, sorry iPhone users). Go to Bluetooth settings then to advanced settings, there should be an option as shown in the screen shot. Turn that stupid option OFF. Hope this helps (might work might not). I've also read that you might have to root the unit and replace the ring.mp3 file. Here's a link to a thread I found on our units:

I've been searching but can't seem to find one. Do they make a unit that will fit a 2015 Tacoma or is it only through 2013?

 

...... It's the same unit. Depending on jbl or not you'll need adapters possibly. And or for the reverse camera.

 

The 2015 doesn't have the clock and hazards there. So what goes in those empty spaces on the surround?

 

Welp, it has the hazards and same passenger seatbelt and airbag warning. Just not clock on mine. Looks like it would fit fine. This is what happens when I start browsing Tacomaworld while still in bed before coffee. Derp.

 

I am interested in this. I am car audio install retarded though. Is this something I can buy and take up to my local cartoys or whatever and have them install for me?

 

Me too, it was really simple though.. Just a couple things that were weird, I assume a local installer by you would do it..
