Sent my 2016 in for the frame inspection and coating: campaign L32.

I was under the impression this was a wax like coating on the entire frame and would take 24 to clean/dry and 2nd day for coatings.

Got truck back within 24 hr of dropping it off. They dried it overnight, put what looks to be a gum substance on the inside seams only applied some end caps/plugs and dried 1 hr before pickup. Curious if this is what everyone else is seeing or if theyre shortcutting here. See pics. No exterior seams treated just inside the frame.. 20200201_111135.jpg 20200201_111120.jpg 20200201_111135.jpg 20200201_111135.jpg 20200201_111135.jpg

Shit man I live in the Chicago suburbs (tons of salt here) and my 2012 has less than half the rust your 2016 does. Even the 3rd gen frames suck- come on Toyota

You at least satisfied Toyota crc recall campaign to maintain your future eligibility if you should need a new frame. If that was my truck I would wait until spring hose / power wash frame to remove the salt build up. I would wait a day to ensure proper drying, use wire wheel to remove rust use Ospho rust neutralizer, Eastwood primer, Eastwood black Chassis paint and finish off with Amsoil heavy duty metal protector. Eastwood also makes an internal frame protection spray. This is my regime that I use for my frame. I find by using this regime I'm doing less touch up as the years go by. I find fluid film washes away to easily. My .02

This looks like a case of "its a truck, it should be dirty" but turned into salt removal neglect.

That's exactly what it's supposed to look like once done. The campaign only coats a section of the interior of the frame. Then plugs are installed. Looking at some pics, they may have gone a bit further waxing additional areas for you.

What does that mean? I was just saying the frame looks neglected he should try coating it with rust encapsulator or something

Do you put your truck on a lift to do all that or just slid under? Also how long does it take you to do it all including drying time? I’m interested in a process besides fluid film you are correct it does wash off pretty easy. Thanks

Maritimes. I drive across a causeway daily so the truck is routinely exposed to salt spray..

Yes sir don’t have anything as crazy as your pics but after a midwestern winter and all the crap they put on the streets. I would like to have a decent process to do before winter every year to protect my frame. Fluid film is nice but won’t protect me 100%.

No single product will give you 100% protection. Diligent and a little TLC will give your frame that protection. I FF twice a year and always take a hose to rinse off my frame after a good snow/salt

I cant wait to see what they do with my 2017. It goes in Monday morning. I pressure wash my frame during the winter every time I wash my truck and I hardly have any rust on it. I live in NE Ohio. I love my Tacoma but I regret buying it knowing Toyota is still not fixing their problem with the frames. I should have went for the Honda Ridgeline. It was a toss up between the two. I made the wrong choice. Ill live with that and just hope it lasts.

It's probably not your last truck? Why not just sell it and move on? The reason you got the Tacoma is likely for the reliability and resale value both of which are still there. Sounds like you take good care of your frame anyways I doubt you'll have issuesl
