Did first Tacoma oil change today. Very happy compared to my old Mazda that I don't have to jack it up! Skid plate came down easy as pie. Small oil spill in the drive. Oh well. Storm tonight?

The tune re-maps the shift points, yes.. Driving around town the truck drives great - the tune is one of my favorite things I have done to it. Huge difference, and I was one of the people who did not mind how it drove stock. When I test drove my truck when I was buying, I laughed because of all of the complaints on how it drove, when I thought it was great. Does not fix the speedo though. When I mean revving, it's because of the bigger heavier tires, and downshifting to keep speed while on the highway.. When I re-gear, it will rev higher, but be able to maintain 6th on the highway.. My truck gets heavy in the summer when I load it up to go camping and I eventually want to do bumpers, so I'll likely go 5.29s when I re-gear. If we're ever at a meet at the same time, you're welcome to drive it if you've been thinking about the tune.
Edit: I saw you don't have a 3rd gen haha.. My bad!

I always am SHOCKED at what the houses in my neighborhood go for per sq/ft. We bought in 2003 and bought about 100K UNDER our approved amount because I thought the amount vs our income was crazy high to get approved for...and then sure enough the real estate market collapsed shortly after we bought. I'm glad we stuck to our 300K limit then and bought a 1900 sq/ft...Now the houses are going for $230 sq/ft to $300 sq/ft for houses built in the 1950's!!! I can't wait to let someone buy my house when my kid is out of school. We specifically bought here because of the schools and since we moved here they rebuilt the k-5. The town paid $14.5M and the state matched with over 10.5M so we have a brand new $30M K-5 school in our precinct and Algonquin Regional HS is amazing. Right when we moved here they announced a $10M highs school renovation and it's a real gem. Apparently my house is worth 3x what we owe on it...So we got that going for us :)

We just voted to build a new high school so I'm happy about that in terms of property value. But realistically I'm fine to break even on the sale because I'm willing to pay to enjoy the winters instead of 6 months of nothing.

Still have to drop the skid and the drain plug is the least of the issues. I had forgotten to open the port on my drain pan. I've seen those, it's a maybe. We'll see, this was the 1k oil change, I might do another one in 5k but after that I'm falling onto the Toyota schedule and having the dealership handle it all for... 2 years I think it is?

I think most Boston parking garages won't be an option after I'm lifted. This one has a couple spots I was afraid to drive through.

Prudential Center garage is REAL Sketchy....they have pipes that in some places are well below their 6ft entrance warning.

Do you plan on moving up past 33's? Don't get me wrong, 5.29's will help you but 4.88's or 4.56's might be better. If you are moving up to 35's in the future, 5.29's are a good investment. I will not be moving past 33's and am going to do 4.56's.

Nope, sorry, should have clarified, not in the market, just curious. I did tune my older F150, jus wondering what options and capabilities a tune has for the Tacoma. When I had my second gen, there weren’t a lot of options out there.
I won’t go into Boston with my truck unless I know where i’m parking ahead of time. There are a few garages that are newer with higher clearances that I fit into. My truck sits at 6’10” (meaning I hit if the clearance is 6’10”) so unless it’s 7’ and over, it’s a no go. There’s a new garage in the Seaport district with a high clearance and corners aren’t too tight.

Hell I was that way with my old hatchback. Boston sucks.

After our most recent holiday in the airport, totally agree. Pain in the ass every time I used an airport bathroom. Like I just want soap. For fuck sake.

Me too. It's kind of a weird house because it's 1500 sq ft but only two bedrooms. I think my dining room was another bedroom and the original owners took out a wall to open it up to the kitchen when their kids left.

It's perfect for us since we have no kids and the house is mostly living area. About 900 sq ft of it is the living room, kitchen/dining, and family room.

No, 33's are probably it.. For 3rd gens it seems 4.88 or 5.29 are what most do. My last 2nd gen with the 4.0 drove different. Lots of lower end torque.. I love the 3.5 but it wants to wind out a little more. I am hoping to drive either (both ideally) so I can get a feel for both.

No worries.. Yeah there isn't much for the 2nd gen.. The tune took a little bit to really break in, but it makes a huge difference in the lower rpm range as well as shifting when it should..
